My name is Joel levy, I own 2 Jamaican cuisine restaurants in the Carolinas. Levy sunday best in Whiteville,NC and sunday best in north myrtle beach sc. Here is my story, I moved here from Jamaican in 2008 chasing the American dream of a better life for me and my kids. I worked hard saved up. I married the love of my life kewana levy, a wonderful mother and nurse. With a total of 6 kids between us we always aspired to own our own business. After i became a resident, and my wife was diagnosed with cancer, she is now in Remission thank God, she didn't want to be in the nursing field anymore. We made a big decision and opened our first Jamaican restaurant in SC in 2020, right before shut down. It was going great being able to balance it all financially and Being through cancer as a family kept us closer than ever. I got a little ambitious and opened the second restaurant in NC in 2023 .It took longer than expected to open and our financial struggles started. Business wasn't as profitable as we expected and 2023 has been a struggle. I have been trying to seek, business partners, business loans, conventional loans, and none of them forthcoming. An inspirational video came up on my facebook feed about you and it inspired me to put aside my pride and just ask for help. I would love a financial grant or help financially to get on our feet. We are in the negative trying to cover our bills and a grant or sponsorship would greatly help. Our cars have been repossessed our family is struggling, its hard to even pay our kids who have been a big help running this business. My wife with tears in her eyes says she is going back to nursing and i know it will take and emotional tole on her. I would love to fix this for my family but i am asking for help.
