Ali Luke Nabavi Needs Your Help to Avoid Homelessness!

From Ali Nabavi

I'm trying to raise enough money to pay for two months' worth of basic living expenses so I can pursue full employment and avoid homelessness.

Greetings, friends, family, and perhaps strangers!  :-)

I am at a pretty critical point in time in my life and asking for your help.  If I don't come up with at least $2,000 by September 6, 2023, my electricity will be turned off, I will be evicted and become homeless, I may lose my property and possessions that I cannot physically carry with me, and I will have no other option than to attempt to gain access to the one homeless shelter in this area.  However I'm trying to raise two-months' worth of basic living expenses (approximately $7,500) so that I can finally have some time and space to find adequate employment, of any kind, and get myself into a better situation, hopefully..

You may have seen my pleas before on Facebook.  They were equally urgent, but by some wonder of the universe I was able to get out of my jams in the nick of time.  Now, however, I'm pretty much at the end of my rope financially.  I don't see any miracle cures this time and I don't see any legal recourse for avoiding eviction.

I am asking for your help because I have exhausted all other options known to me.

  • I have no close friends here.

  • I have no close family, much less ones I can ask for assistance.

  • I have exhausted my unemployment benefits (a whopping ~$374 per week) after only eight months.

  • I have no assets whatsoever except for my Mississippi house, which I "sold", but the new owners failed to fulfill their contract and I haven't been paid by them since October, 2022; I have no money to pay an attorney to move forward with foreclosure.

  • I haven't had a car since October 2022 which has made everything much more difficult, including seeking and obtaining employment; I live in a small, manufacturing town (not part of my grand plan when escaping Mississippi) and my job-search radius is drastically limited due to my transportation situation.

  • Despite my having twenty-five years of IT experience, my lack of a college degree continues to prevent me from getting employment in my field.

  • The nature of my career so far prevents me from getting hired for entry-level positions because I am considered to be overqualified and likely to split at a moment's notice should a better opportunity present itself..

  • The positions that are least discerning (and therefore more unpleasant and brutal) are often ones that I am unable to perform due to my chronic physical problems I have been unable to adequately treat during this period due to lack of resources.

  • Now that I am finally out from under the extremely onerous and punitive probation I received from a bogus DUI arrest that has eaten up the last year of my life with worry, depression, anxiety, and severe constraints on my personal freedom and ability to thrive professionally and personally, I have been able to make some progress, but unfortunately not fast enough to catch up with my financial obligations to this point.

  • I have lost two ideal, high-paying job opportunities due to the constraints placed on me by my probation

I have explored other options including getting a roommate, selling my unessential personal possessions, downsizing my residence, etc., but all of these require time and money also, and I plan on continuing to pursue them regardless.

If I am evicted, I will . . .

  • Have no place to go except for the one homeless shelter in town, which may or may not have room for me when I will need it

  • Likely lose all of my possessions in my apartment

  • Lose my two cats, and they will lose each other

  • Be in an even worse position to gain employment due to diminished resources

  • Be unable to address some serious injuries I sustained due to an accident I suffered on August 1, 2023.

If I get a break, THANKS TO YOU, I am hoping to . . .

  • Get ANY kind of job I can physically perform, and as many as necessary, to cover my expenses and save up money to rectify my situation

  • Bring my girlfriend to me (she's in New Jersey, I'm in Washington) so we can support each other and build a loving, vital household together

  • Relocate to a better place that is more suitable for me

  • Finally finish the last semester of my degree program

  • Buy a car!!!!!!!  :-)))))))

Also, I've thought of this as an investment on your part.  I'm asking you to invest in me.  Accordingly, I would like to offer all donors a share of stock in my future enterprises (literally) once I am back on my feet so that you can reap the benefits of your investment.  I'm currently working out a way to make that happen.  I would be most grateful for your material support in this time of need and I do take all of these things very seriously; I'm the one who will be in the homeless shelter after all.  :-)  Which is actually heartbreaking, because my experiences since I was exiled from my family have shown me how easy it is for people in our society to fall into a pit from which there is almost no escape.  (If you want to know more about that stuff you should listen to my podcast or read my blog.)

I will include links to a breakdown of my monthly expenses so you can see how I came up with my numbers, as well as other links and info that may convince you that I could use a break. :-))))))))

Thank you very much for reading all of this.  If you have any feedback of any kind I would love to hear it.

Love,

Ali/Luke
