My name is Zacharie Howley; I am a 17 year old life Scout of Troop 21 at the Gulf Ridge Council in Tampa Florida. I have been active in the Boy Scouts of America since I was a Tiger Cub. I have also attended Catholic School all of my life, and I have the privilege of attending Most Holy Redeemer Catholic School in Tampa.
MHR is in an older part of town and has been serving the community since 1954. Thousands of kids have come and gone through these doors, and have been filled with the knowledge and wisdom provided by the excellent teachers and staff.
As a 2009 graduate of MHR and a soon to be graduate of Bishop McLaughlin Catholic School, I felt it only appropriate to give back to the school that gave me so much. As such, my Eagle Scout Project will be to beautify the main road entrance to the school, and give it a much needed makeover.
I will be removing the (ancient) overgrown shrubs, part of the hedges and all over the old mulch from the ground. I will be building a small retaining wall to contain river rock, which will now serve as the ground cover for the new entrance. I will also be adding multiple flower pots, and large statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
This project will not only improve the look of the school, but it will also improve the safety for the students who change the large MHR message board, which holds school news.
This project is ambitious and expensive. The estimates are as follows:
Any donation of any amount will help reach this goal, and enable me, as a Boy Scout of America to help out my Alma Mata, my community and to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
