I, Zack Leonard, am going to be participating in the Minneapolis Marathon on June 1, 2014. As I train and complete the long trek, I hope to raise awareness for the SOS Programs.
"May we always be mindful of the needs of others" - Dr. Stanley Leonard
My Grandpa instilled the quote above in my brain as long as memory serves me. I have been fortunate enough to grow up in a setting that allowed me to graduate High School, graduate from the University of Texas and turn that college diploma into the start of my career at KPMG. I've had a great support system in my life from my family, friends and collegues. Now it's time for me to pay that support forward. I have the opportunity to accomplish something that less than 1% of the world can say they have done - run a marathon. While I train and eventually accomplish this physical feat, I will continue to do as my Grandpa has taught me - to be mindful of the needs of others. I am hoping to help raise awareness for the needs of children/students of low SES backgrounds. I am asking the world to help me stay motivated and attain my physical goal while brightening up the future of children who are in dire need of upgraded school supplies, enhanced after school programs and a support system that you may or may not have had growing up.
The Save Our Schools (SOS) program, created by Josh Thelemann,is creating communities of equitable education, economic prosperity, decreased crime rates and healthy living by investing in educational opportunities for at-risk students of the Twin Cities. With your help, we can truly make an impact on the future. For more information on the SOS program, please visit the website below.
I am truly grateful for all the opportunities and support I have had over my 25 years. Please help me continue to be mindful of the needs of others and donate to help brighten the lives of children in need.
