I would like to make a dream trip come true by volunteering at the Cheetah Conservation Fund in Namibia, Africa. I want to do my part to help the cheetah in their fight for survival.
Years ago when I was a Biology major in college I did a genetics paper about the lack of genetic variation in cheetahs. In researching this paper I became fascinated with the cheetah. Years later I read about The Cheetah Conservation Fund in Namibia, Africa. I read about their Livestock Guardian Dog program and the efforts that were being made to work with the local African farmers to utilize non-lethal means for protecting livestock. This is where I learned of the Anatolian Shepherd. I have wanted to visit CCF ever since. I now have my own small farm with goats and Anatolian Shepherds to guard them, all inspired by CCF. I have always come up with a reason to not be able to make the trip, primarily financial reasons. This year I lost my last parent and this made me think about how short life can be. You really need to live life to the fullest everyday, because no one is guaranteed a tomorrow. This trip is something I've talked about for at least 20 years and I decided it was time to stop talking about it and just do it.
Any money that I raise will go directly to expenses related to the trip, plane tickets, food and lodging, and farm sitting expenses are some of the things this will help me to pay for. If there is any funds left over, I will donate them directly to CCF.
