Courtney HAD HER PUPPIES!
6 healthy happy little babies and momma are doing well!
4 boys: Moriarty, Darvos, Abaddon, Rassilion
2 girls: Oswyn and Fiona

We aren't out of the woods yet. Mamma still needs puppy food supplemented with a high caloric puppy mixture 4 times a day. Mama and the pups are still going to need FULL vetting and health care throughout the next 8 weeks until they're ready for adoption.

Thank you thank you for your continued support. We started at 57 dogs needed rescue and there are still 19 waiting to be saved. You are amazing!

Update #4

Courtney was moved into foster care today. Huge appreciation to her new foster parents! She is one of the lucky dogs rescued from the desert where dozens of border collies are still waiting to be saved. As always, we praise and thank the staff at Kreature Komforts Animal Hospital for taking such wonderful care of this little girl. They really do amazing work and our gratitude for their continued help and support is endless.

Courtney is pregnant and far enough along that we are expecting puppies within a few weeks. She will now be able to birth her puppies in a safe and loving environment.

Courtney has not had any experiences in her young life and is terrified. Even scared, she will gently take treats and lay by you if you don’t disturb her. As under socialized and insecure Courtney is, there is hope. It takes time for these dogs to adjust and relax to new people, new environment and a new life. But dogs are one of the most resilient species. Courtney will be a wonderful family member for a lucky adopter.
We will add updates on Courtney as she settles in.

Update #2

Mama Dog and Pups: Please meet Tessa. This is where Tessa was living when Boxers and Buddies and Res-Que found her. She had just given birth to 3 puppies. The puppies were healthy and thriving. Although not the best circumstances, we decided it was best to leave her for now rather than stress her and put her and her puppies health in jeopardy.
Unfortunately, when we checked on Tessa the 2nd time, a pup was missing. We don't know what happened and were unable to locate it despite hours of searching. It was at that point the decision to move mom and pups was made.
Winnemucca rescue moved the pups to a car. Mamma, being the amazing mamma she is, followed - even though she is TERRIFIED of people.
Once in Reno, she was set up with her pups. She has been with us almost a month now and we are happy to report that the puppies are healthy, happy, doing well and should be available for adoption when they are 8 weeks old.
Please welcome Tessa, Mali and Chad to Boxers and Buddies!

Update #1

Rex is a 4 year old Border Collie rescued from the Winnemucca situation. Today he got his first bath ever from his foster mom and since he was so severely matted, he is now rocking a new mohawk haircut. :) He has some scars from all the mats in his hair and from fighting in the pen with his pack but he is on his way to being a new man. Right now he is just chilling and taking in the new surroundings but he likes to follow his foster parents around and seems to really like people. We are thankful dogs can be so resilient. More on Rex to come when he is ready for adoption at http://www.res-que.org
