Wapshkankwet's Cancer Fund

From Deleted User

I'm currently pregnant and have Ovarian Cancer, with a lump recently discovered in my left breast. Due to these factors I cannot have immediate treatment and I have work restrictions. I am fundraising for my surgery.

Update #2

Bozho! Hey all. As some of you know I was back in the hospital last week for preterm labor. I was given 12 hours of Magnesium, steroids for Baby's lungs, and a medication to stop labor. All treatments were a success and I was released. I'm not home and on a medication for my kidney's. I'm doing okay, I can drive, I'm not allowed to do much, but I KNOW I will begin feeling better soon. Here is a picture of Baby. Thank you all for your support, it truly means the world to us. More Info

I'm an enrolled Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation Member, currently in Virginia working a degree in sociology. While at University I worked very hard to stay in remission and put off a major surgery until after graduation. In March I began feeling ill and went to my family doctor, where I found out we were pregnant. While very happy about the pregnancy I was also very concerned due to just completing radiation treatments and knowing I was postponing the inevitable; a hysterectomy. I wasn't sure how things would progress, or if they would, and there was a chance I would miscarry. We are not in September and less than 3 months until we have the little one. KiKwe is doing well, she's small, and I've been hospitalized numerous times. I have medical appointmentss each week and I'm on the Makena injection to avoid going into preterm labor. I'm having surgery as soon as I deliver and I'm going to Kick Cancer's butt! Additionally I am having liver and kidney problems and my blood pressure is too high. I am on a treatment plan for this. I'm on work restriction, and doing as much as I can to keep my benefits. I am hardly bringing in any income and my partner is working two jobs to keep us afloat, plus I have a 13 year old. I am asking for help with my medical bills, surgery, and recovery. ANYTHING HELPS. Feel free to email me. I will post updates and pictures when I can. I am trying not to have her too early, but based on my previous pregnancies (2), I will have her early.

Update #1

THANK YOU ALL, so much for the support.

I wanted to post an update and let you all know how things are going. I was in the emergency room Friday due to having consistent contractions. We were able to stop labor, my water has not broken, the amniotic fluid has not been leaking. All is well. We have an appointment on Tuesday morning to see the baby's heart, chambers and valves.

We are still trying to remain on the Makena shots, which are supposed to be keeping me pregnant. The adverse side effects associated with the shots have coincided with my four E.R. visits. We cannot do any treatments regarding the cancer until I deliver the baby. The baby isn't due until the 2nd week in November, our goal is to carry the baby as long as possible, at this point my personal goal is the end of October.

I am scheduled to have a hysterectomy, so on top of having the baby and healing I will be healing from the surgery. I will wait to see if any further treatments will need to be done. Baby has basically cleared the cancer that was in my uterus out, which just seems...impossible to me. But it is a reality. She is active and is a fighter. I love this little one so much already. I truly appreciate everyone who has helped with a repost, share, donation, prayer. Thank you. Love, Sarah Wapshkankwet.
