Communities from around the world are coming together to Stand with Standing Rock and stop the construction of the Dakota Access pipeline from desecrating sacred land. 

The Bainbridge Island community and surrounding Puget Sound are rising now to protect our water, indigenous peoples, all americans, and mother earth. This is your chance to stand with Standing Rock-- to celebrate the power of community and to be of service to our planet. 

Come join at the WATER IS LIFE: BENEFIT FOR STANDING ROCK at Island Center Hall on Saturday October 15th at 6:30 pm. 

MUSIC: We are honored to have SACRED WATER CANOE FAMILY join us at this benefit with their words and songs.  Sacred Water is made up of many different tribes and are an intertribal Canoe Family. They represent tribes from Canada, Washington, Alaska, North Dakota, Arizona, Hawaii and Mexico, just to name a few. They represent as one family with the same goal: to use their culture and traditions to heal, bring unity and to up lift the spirits of the people around them.

SPEAKERS: We are honored to have PAUL "CHE OKE TEN" Wagner as the keynote speaker. Che oke' ten is an internationally performing presenter of traditional songs and stories of his Coast Salish tribal ancestors. He is a member of the Wsaanich (Saanich) Tribe of southern Vancouver Island, British Columbia. An award-winning Native American flutist, his songs have come to him with visions of healing and prayer for all relations (tree people, animal people and human people). He is an avid activist/ protector of our heritage of clean water, air, lands and wellness for our grandchildren's grandchildren.

ART AUCTION: The night will feature artwork for auction by a selected group of incredible, revolutionary artists from all around the country. These artists  are prominant voices in contemporary steet art, muralism, visionary and political art. All proceeds from art will be donated to Sacred Stone Camp. Local businesses and community members have  generously donated gift coupons, baskets, vacation rentals, and services to suppliment auction items.

FOOD: Features grilled salmon from Native Harvest and home-cooked side dishes and salads from the Bainbridge community. Other sponsors are Iggy's kombucha, Runa tea, and Pan d' Amore. 

COMMUNITY ART: An interactive community art mural will be at the event for anyone and everyone to write/draw/express their voice.
