After weathering unforeseen obstacles and opposition over the last year, we are facing significant financial challenges. Thank you for keeping the UTOPiAn Dream alive!
After an incredible nine annual gatherings in Utopia, TX, it was time for UTOPiAfest to find a new place to grow, and evolve into a sustainable future. While the family was always warmly welcoming, and built the festival with years of hard work and sacrifice. the Four Sisters Ranch was limited in capacity, and lacking other crucial revenue potentials such as alcohol sales.
Not long into the search for a fitting successor, I found another private family ranch that had a striking beauty, and similar feel. Amazingly, it was already being shaped for a festival, and the landowners offered to co-produce the festival, as well as provide the space.
I was convinced we'd found the next step for the festival, and that we could ensure a significant but manageable growth, and that all relationships with neighbors and county officials were sound. By the end of the year, none of it came to pass. After struggling with hostile neighbors and community members, and being strongly encouraged to move by county officials and many community residents, we make the decision to relocate to Reveille Peak Ranch. It was the best thing that could've happened for the long term potential of the festival.
However, not achieving the growth we planned, and having invested in the previous location, left us in a major deficit. We at UTOPiA are grateful for the community that has stepped up so far to help us through this rough spot, and can't wait to continue the next chapter of UTOPiAfest with you at Reveille.
