When I was in high school, my mom asked me to work in factory with my older sister. I was born in 1984. From 1999-2002 I worked in factory. In 2003 I asked my mom to send me back to school, yes! She agreed. I was very happy that I could go back to school and finished night school and went to college. (My former personal assistant in Cambodia – Charles McCaul)
I believe that every person has potential. There is something in mankind that is like gold or diamonds, but it has to be sought out and given the opportunity to develop.

I’ve given my adult life to this belief. I’ve worked in humanitarian work most of my adult life. Rather than hiring from the outside I’ve chosen to develop the potential and capacity of those within my sphere of influence. I’ve developed my own capacity to be able to develop others and be a resource for their development. That means if I don’t have the capacity to develop them I’ll find someone who does. This may mean mentorship, internship, university or some other method to mine the gold that I believe is inside them. I’ve found this successful and live with the satisfaction I have been able to see the gold and diamonds in the lives of thousands and have had a small part in helping them develop their potential.

I want to leave you with three thoughts:

Maybe you are a person who doesn’t believe you have potential. Don’t think like that. You are a human being created in the image of God and there is gold in you. Believe it. Starting mining that gold yourself. Find someone you can attach yourself to in order to help you develop that potential.
Maybe you are a person who is strong, stable and has been developing your personal potential all along. I urge you to use the person you have become to help develop the potential of another person or several other persons in this life. This may be one-on-one time with them, helping in a center, or helping someone less fortunate overseas or in another part of your country or city.
Consider sponsoring a youth from Vimean’s Kids Program in Cambodia. You can help keep them in school and on to university or trade school with USD$650 per year. It can be a lifetime investment for you and one of your legacies in this life.
Vimean Kid’s Program is something I began in 2020 to leave a legacy to my former staff, Vimean Moung, who lived out this life philosophy of mine and died suddenly. We partner with People Caring and Learning in Cambodia and Share the Health Cambodia and several other organizations.

You can make donations through these two organizations or through a personal bank transfer (email me for more details) or through Fundly. See the info below.

If you go to the PCL website you can select the youth you want to sponsor.

Remember, we can’t help everyone, but we can help a few. It’s like the story of the child picking up starfish as there were hundreds of them washed up on the seashore. The old man said, “Son, you can’t save all of these starfish.” He said, “Yes, sir. But I can save this one.”

Cambodian Children are at risk.  While the situation has improved since 1993 when they had their elections and established a new constitution, nevertheless, children are still at a great risk of poverty, sickness and exploitation.

The problem is Cambodian youth drop out of school.  We’ve known this experientially for many years, but a recent report it says this:

-  72% of 15-year old students studying Grades 7-12 have dropped out of school or delayed their education.

-  40% of Cambodian students, particularly among boys, are one or more years behind in school – this is the major factor in school dropouts.

-  29.1 % of 15-year old students have repeated at least one grade – again, the leading factor for dropping out.

-  Only 8% of Cambodian students achieved a minimum proficiency level or higher in reading.

-  10% in math are at a minimum competency level and studies have found they cannot apply what they learn to everyday life

-  5% in science (same as math)

-  90% of Cambodian students are below basic competency levels in. all subjects

-  Average classroom size is 45 students

-  However, 94% of 15-year old students want to go to school and learn

Supporting children to stay in school and providing after school education and tutoring can be a major factor to save a child, save a family, save a village and save a nation.

Charles McCaul has experience and success in education projects to address these issues in Cambodia as he has lived and worked in Cambodia since April 1995.  The Four-Pronged Package he proposes here will work, not only for the 100 children supported, but for their siblings, friends and neighbors in the same village and for their parents.

F0UR-PART "PACKAGE" TO SUCCESS:  FOUR YEAR INITIAL PLAN

Support 100 children @ USD$50 per month (USD$600 per year) to stay in school.

Establish a School on a Mat in 4 districts in Siem Reap Province for private tutoring of sponsored children and after-school education for community children in math, science, Khmer language, English

-  Provide healthcare education and checkups as well as agriculture training to the supported family and community.

-  Buy land and construct a small community center in four villages during this four years to serve as a Community Education Center

Teach leadership at four high schools in the four districts

Update #34

I think many of us know that education is the future for a generation. This is why I’ve been involved in education in many different ways during my 27 years in Cambodia.

Education has improved a lot in Cambodia, but there is still a serious dropout rate. The link below will take you to an article that tells us what we in Cambodia already know, students are dropping out of school at an even faster rate during this Covid-19 Crisis.

Update #33

Vimean's Kids Project was established in October 2020 after the sudden death of my staff, Vimean Moung. Vimean focused on children, youth and education. He touched tens of thousands of lives. I felt someone needed to carry that legacy on. Watch this video for an update on our strategic partnership with PCL Siem Reap, Cambodia and learn about the four-fold focus of VKM and how you can sponsor a Cambodian youth to stay in school and continue on through university. Change a life, change family, perhaps change a generation! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIThrqybSsw&t=7s

Update #32

I was invited to attend several orientation ceremonies for incoming freshmen at a university in Cambodia, and they asked me to speak for a few minutes about the value of education. That was easy for me, as I know the value of education.

The university has about 3,000 students with about 800 new freshmen this year. My heart was so touched to see their antitipation. Education is the answer for them, their families, their siblings and this generation. This year is a special year of opportunity for these students.

As with most other nations education was severely disrupted by Covid-19. Many students drop out of school in Cambodia at 6th grade, 9th grade and 12th grade as they see they just can’t get the education to pass the final exams. It’s the final exams that count in the Cambodian educational system. The way to pass the final exam is by studying with a tutor.
.
Studying with a tutor will help you get the education that you don’t get in the classroom. It’s just a must for advancement. There are different levels of studying with a tutor – a group of about 25 students; a group of about 10 students and individually or with 2-3 students. Of course the fewer the students the more the cost.

Vimean’s Kids Project is partnering with People for Caring and Learning (PCL) to select students who have potential to become leaders in society and seek sponsors for them to stay in school. Much of the donation will go towards providing tutors for the children and youth. The focus is very targeted including a specific geographical location in Cambodia, a limit of 100 children/youth, and follow-up and guidance by “Big Brothers and Big Sisters” who are helping the youth make good decisions for the future.

We are also partnering with Hope for the Nations (Canada) to establish Village Community Centers where general after-school education will be provided.

Thank you to those who have supported this project that will definitely change the course of a youth, and the youth’s family, as well as possibly change a nation.

Update #31

We can’t do it alone! Thanks to those who have contributed to Vimean’s Kids Project and who stand in support and encouragement of us.

I recently met with a long-time friend, Melissa Seet. Melissa wears many hats, including managing an international school in Phnom Penh as well as being the Cambodian representative for Hope for the Nations. Vimean’s Kids Project is moving forward with a partnership with Hope for the Nations to construct a facility and after-school education project in a village in Siem Reap Province. This is also in cooperation with People for Caring and Learning in Siem Reap Province.

Melissa and I and her friend, Edith, also spent a lot of time discussing how we might be able to use education as a source of funding for VKP. Melissa is very creative and is very supportive of the idea. We are working on ideas now.

Thank you again for those who have contributed to operating expenses, which are essential for an organization, and for those wishing to support a youth. It’s in progress.

Update #30

Partnerships benefit everyone. We can’t do it alone.

This was impressed upon me when I was Emergency Director for the Three Rivers Red Cross in Northern California. In order to respond to disasters effectively and efficienlty we had to have strategic partnerships with police, fire, business, churches and other community organizations.

You can see from the chart above differnet aspects of a successful partnership. However, a clear plan of expectations for each party should be laid out ahead of time.

I’m very excited about potential partnerships which may be developing with Hope for the Nations Canada and People for Caring and Learning Cambodia with Vimean’s Kids Project.

People for Caring and Learning has a children’s home and education center and several village projects that fit will with Vimean’s Kids Project. Hope for the Nations is keen to invest in a village community center and focus on education and supporting projects, such as agriculture, health and skills development. I also want to thank the great partneship with James Garcia and Sharing the Health Cambodia.

Update #29

CAMBODIAN YOUTH ARE AMAZING~

These are 4th year university students. All are teachers investing their skills and training into the lives of youth and children to help them have a better future.

I’ve lived in Cambodia or worked directly with Cambodia for 26 years. Most of the projects I’ve started or been involved in concern Cambodian youth. I can honestly say, these Cambodian youth are amazing. Of course they want to live and survive and have a good job, but the vast majority of Cambodian youth I’ve had the privilege of associating with want to use their skills, knowledge and experiences to help others. They want to become teachers or work with humanitarian organizations to give back to their country and prepare the next generation.

That’s why all of these years I’ve tried to discover who I am as a person and develop my skills to I can strategically pass it on to others. I would hope that if anyone says anything positive about me, is that I invest in others.

That’s what Vimean’s Kids Project is all about. Not just giving kids money, but also investing in them as a tutor, mentor, uncle, big brother or sister and giving them guidance in their Life Journey. I will personally invest into them, but I will do my best to multiply myself into staff who will hold the same values and strategy and thus multiply myself.

Srey March is a university student that has received sponsorship from a church. She also teaches children and oversees and trains other teachers from her church which reaches out to educating children in various areas of Siem Reap Province.

Investing in sponsoring a child/youth in Cambodia (9th grade and up) to stay in school can really change a life! I’ve had the privilege over all these years to see hundreds of lives changed by my personal investment into them. It’s one of the most fulfilling things I think a person can do in their lifetime – live to your level, then help others to live to their level and they can do the same.

Investing in USD$650 per year will primarily pay for a tutor for the youth. It’s the way things are in Cambodia. Students don’t get enough education in the half-day of school so those who can afford it and want to pass the 12th grade exam, simply must study with a tutor. This is sometimes done in a class of 20-25 or a smaller class of 8-10 or one-on-one. The less number of students the more it costs.

I meet with four university students and tutor once per week.
Investing in a youth to stay in school can possibly change a family. All of the youth hope to get good jobs and give money to their parents and siblings. Also, when one youth makes his or her way to university it creates hope and a pathway for the younger siblings to follow, thus changing the entire dynamics of a family and possibly a generation.

As I type this I’ll be meeting the youth in the photo above for a private tutoring session this afternoon – this is on my day off and above and beyond my regular work load. I’ll be meeting with three others later in the afternoon for the same thing. This is how it’s done.

Thank you for considering an investment in the lives of Cambodian youth during this world-wide health and economic crisis. If you can’t do it alone, perhaps you can join with friends, family or workmates. If you can’t do it at all, help us by sharing this post with others.

Nobody likes to give to general operating expenses, but if the organization doesn’t have the finances to run it can’t serve the clients. Vimean’s Kids Project has a very modest Annual Operating Budget for 2021. Please consider a donation.

Update #26

YOU CAN BE THE AUNTIE OR UNCLE TO A CAMBODIAN YOUTH!

Vimean’s Kids Program will do more than just give money. Our goal is to safely connect sponsors with the children they support to stay in school. Communication will be monitored to protect the children, but we want the sponsor to receive photos and reports from the child as well as connect through Facebook.

We see our social workers as like Big Brother’s and Big Sisters to the youth, guiding them along the pathway to success. We see our sponsors as like Aunties and Uncles who take some responsiblity for the future of the child they sponsor.

It’s been our experience with our former organization that sponsors are interested in the lives of the child they sponsor, not just sending money. Although it’s not required, we’ve noticed sponsors will send Christmas and birthday gifts and sometimes a special donation at the beginning of the school year for the child to buy clothing and school supplies.

I can tell you personally, the Cambodian people are some of the most lovely people on the planet – they were actually voted the most friendly people by an international organization last year. You will not regret investing in their live and relating to them!

Child Sponsorship Donations

To sponsor a child will cost USD$650 per year. There are bank fees involved but our goal is to keep as much of the monthly donation to the child as possible – USD$50 per month. That will go directly to educational issues – especially studying with a tutor. Any extra will go to support the child personally or to the family.

Operational Expenses

However, the organization cannot function and fulfull our mission to the chilren without covering opperational expenses. This includes the facilities, rent, etc, but especially the staff and social workers who will visit the students weekly as a big brother or big sister to insure a healthy home, school and health enviornment. For our Launching Year (2021) we are in need of USD$25,000 for operating expenses. We are exploring income-generation businesses to support the ongoing organizationl expenses for the following years.

We realize this COVID-19 has caused an economic challenge for many people. However, there are some who have a heart to give what they can and others are better off financially and can give more. A creative way is to band together with co-workers, family or church members or Bible Classes to support a child.

What an opportunity to change a life, change a family and perhaps change a generation!

My specialty over the years has been leadership development. What I see with the youth VKP sponsors is 100 future leaders. We will have workshops, seminars and retreats with the youth to develop their leadership in society skills. Donations to the operational expenses and income from the business we hope to start to support the project will pay for that.

Thank you for considering this worthwhile, life-changing endeavor and for sharing this post with others. Together we can do it!

We will have ten youth ready to sponsor by the end of January 2021. Make your donatiaon before the end of 2020.

AN INVESTMENT THAT KEEPS ON PAYING - SENDING A KID TO UNIVERSITY.

Sponsoring a Cambodian youth to attend university is a life-changer for them and their families. When a youth graduates from university they will find a descent-paying job and give back to their family. They will also provide a pathway of hope for their younger siblings.

Not only that, many of them are interested in becoming teachers. In fact, just yesterday, the Ministry of Education in Cambodia announced they are seeking 3,500 more teachers to spread across the country. A teacher multiplies his or herself many times.

Vimean’s Kids Program is not just a sponsorship program, but we aim to connect the sponsored child with his or her sponsor, as well as provinde special attention to the child/youth and help form them into a leader.

Vimean’s Kids Program is not just a sponsorship program, but we aim to connect the sponsored child with his or her sponsor, as well as provinde special attention to the child/youth and help form them into a leader. This will be done by me, personally, training my staff and my staff reaching out to his or her cohort, helping to monitor their education process, help them to discover their personality and uniqness and connecting them with more resources. This is what I’ve done for 26 years in Cambodia – it’s called Train the Trainers. I humbly say….I’m good at it.

LIVING ON THE WATER AND LIVING OFF THE WATER - VIMEAN'S KIDS PROJECT UPDATE

(Check out my Facebook at Charles E McCaul for photos...or my blog:
https://charlesedwardmccaul.wordpress.com/2020/11/20/living-on-the-water-and-living-off-of-the-water-vimeans-kids-project-research/ The photos are worth your time, I think.

I went away with a heavy heart, as I usually do after making this visits. And I couldn't help giving the grandmother, daughter and children all the money in my wallet - only USD$10 - before I left the spit of land surrounded by water.

I visited a school that sits on the big Tonle Sap Lake near Siem Reap City. This is the big lake you see in the center of Cambodia when you look at a map. The school servies children whose parents are mostly fisherman who live literally on the lake in boats on on the edge of the lake and earn their living off of the produce in and around the lake.

In the pictures below you can see the school and a grandmother and mother stacking wood to sell. They said the wood comes from far away on boats which bring it across the lake. The two children in the picture at theg top of the blog are the children of the mother stacking wood - playing and resting in a boat - they don't attend school.

I met the director of this public school Junior High School (grades 7, 8, 9) last week. When I told her what I'm trying to do she immediately replied: "Please help the 9th-Graders. Most of them will not go on to high school unless they have assistance, but will have the pressure to help their family earn an income."

When I met with the teachers today they said they have 95 students. They study only in the morning. The largest class is the 7th-Graders, because they are new to the junior high - just arriving from the primary school next door. The number of students in the class get fewer and fewer as they proceed to 8th and 9th grade because they drop out of school. The director pleaded - "Please help the 9th-Graders - most of them will drop out of school if they don't have some kind of support." Out of 25 students that start, only about 5 will finish and go on to high school. Of course, I already knew this - that's the reason I started Vimean's Kids Program in the first place.

Vimean's Kids Program has four focuses:

1. Support youth like this at USD$650 per year. If one family, school, class, Bible Study group, friends, neighbors, business or individual can make the commitment, they can sponsor the child into univerisity or trade school.

2. Provide a "School on a Mat" in the nearby village where we give weekly classes to all children who want to come. It's kind of like mass tutoring. Also, partner with a medical organization and an agricultural organization to try and keep the villagers healthy and give another option for income.

3. Buy land and construct a building if necessary for our programs to function as well as other organizations and the local community to use.

4. Teach leadership in nearby high schools to prepare future leaders in business, eduction, government and all spheres of society.

You can change a life, change a family and perhaps change a generation!

Update #23

EVERYBODY HAS A PART TO PLAN

In an orchestra – and in a business, school, church or organization – one person can’t do it alone. It takes people from all walks of life with different skills to make the project a success.

The same with Vimean’s Kids project – to make this a long-term sustainable project there must be ways to generate income from within the country rather than relying on donations forever. To be honest, I don’t have a problem with seeking donations to sponsor kids, but I need entrepreneurs to pitch in with their creative ideas on what we can do to create income-generation projects to pay for the operating expenses rather than always be looking for donations – as well as creative income-generation for the youth as they graduate from university and also for their families. This is not one of my strengths, so I’m looking to those who do have experience and strength in these areas.

I led a growing church and non- profit organization for many years in Cambodia. However, at some point I recongized my personal limitations and my strengths and weaknesses, and I knew I had to keep within the sphere of my grace. I eventually turned the church over to someone who could take it to the next level and it’s now one of the largest churches in Cambodia, if not the largest with 300 branches all throughout Cambodia and a healthy, helpful non-profit organization that’s assisting thousands. I couldn’t have done that and I couldn’t have done it alone. I needed to stay within my sphere of expertise and partner with others and release them to their sphere of expertise. I did the same with New Life School.

I lived and worked in Northern California for five years during the 26 years I count as working in or with Cambodia. Four of those five years I worked as Emergency Director for the American Red Cross north of San Franciso up to the Oregon border – 16 counties as I recall. I was the only full-time staff in the department with 300 volunteers to train and oversee and continually recruiting more. In order for the American Red Cross to respond to disasters there must be a huge degree of partnership with police, fire department, schools, churches, business, resorts, casinos and clubs. The need for partnership and everybody doing their part was drilled into me during those four years.

What I’m looking for are people who are creative business people that can partner with Vimean’s Kids Program to help create income-generation projects. These will become jobs for some of the youth or their families and support the administrtative costs of the organization. I want the child donations to go 100% to the child.

COVID-19 is holding us back some. I suspect I need someone or a group in Cambodia now (and I’m connecting with groups like that as I speak) or groups from outside the country who can come in after COVID lifts up a bit and help research and get those projects off the ground. (I have a very good idea right now….I may share it later.)

For example, I have a friend who started a school for immigrants in Malayasia. He also started a second hand clothing and furiture store through another organization. It’s really been successful and pays for the expenses of the school as well as gives employment.

Another Cambodia friend has started a small restaurant inside a high school in Siem Reap. It’s not doing so well now because of COVID, but before it was generating good income for his youth project. He also has a water purification business. These things are just not within my sphere and would take me away from what I feel I do best.

One step at a time. As I type this I’ll meet with teachers in Siem Reap to share with them our vision and strategy and get their feedback and start gathering information about potential youth to sponsor as we start to get donors.

Why not make a Christmas donation to Vimean’s Kids Prgram? You might be in a difficult situation but if you band together with family or neighbors, or work-out buddies or Bible Study friends, or a school class, home-school group or Sunday School Class you can make a significant donation before December 31, 2020.

You can change a life, change a family and perhaps change a generation!

Update #22

This is the leadership model that produces generational results. This is what I’ve been focused on for more than 30 years. This is the ultimate goal of Vimean’s Kids Program.

There are many things I can’t do. I either avoid those things or find someone who can do them to walk alongside me. But over the years I’ve discoverd one thing I can do is reproduce leaders at various levels. My 26 years in Cambodia and the hundreds of leaders – perhaps thousands – that have been influenced by me is a testimony to that.

Over the years I’ve looked for the most effective way to have the greatest impact in my various endeavors. That always involves saying “No” to the good and saying “Yes” to the best. It always involves establishing priorities and ruthlessly staying focused on them. It always means you can’t do some things – you must focus on what or who will produce the most fruit.

The way to have the greatest impact is through the training of leaders.

As a Christian, I’ve noticed that Jesus did the same thing. Jesus gave bread to the multitude, healed them and met their needs without any hesitation – but His goal was for the work he began to continue after he left. Therefore, although He ministered to the multitude, He focused on His Twelve Disicples and among them, there were three that recieved special attention.

You can change a life, change a family and perhaps change a generation!

We will focus on 100 children and youth – 10 in the Phase 1, 25 in Phase 2, 25 more in Phase 3 and 20 and 20 in the next two phases – at least that’s the plan – it may be slightly adjusted as we move along. But the point is start slow and give attention to the kids that you support. Help them excel in school, help them discover who they are, and help them become a person of influence in their sphere of life inthe future.

Thank you so much for standing with us.

At this point, we’re looking at two needs:

Operating Expenses of USD$25,000.
Support for the first 10 children and youth (USD$600 per year)
You can change a child, change a family and perhaps change a generation.

You may not be able to personally contribute as much as you would like too, but with a group you might be able to. Perhaps a Prayer Group or Bible Study Group, or Office Staff, or Extended Family or neighborhood might want to band together – a group can do more than an indivudual.

I’d encouage you to consider a Christmas Giving Goal to Vimean’s Kids Program.

Update #20

One thing I’ve noticed about Cambodian youth, after working with them for 26 years, is they have a love for their country and fellow-countrymen and want to invest back in some way. So many youth have a heart for children and they want to do everything they can to help children.

I started a new university class this past week. I have about 20 students in class, all 4th year students. I spent the first half of the class introducing myself and then had them one-by-one introduce themselves. I wanted to hear them speak to try to ascertain their level of English. The second half of the class I explained and gave examples of six common mistakes Cambodian ESL (English as a Second Language) students make and explained that I build my lessons around making them aware of those weaknesses and helping them improve.

During the class I had them repeat after me as I spoke and I walked among them trying to hear them speak through the masks so as to listen to their pronuciation.

But I also wanted to test their writing skills. You can see in the top photo the homework they turned into me. I know I can help them during the 15 weeks we will be together.

However, one thing stood out to me that just brought tears to my eyes as I read their homework. Almost all of them wanted to learn English so they could help the next generation. They wanted to take what they had learned and help those coming behind them to rise to a new level and a new hope! Same vision as me!

That is the strength, my friend, of Vimean’s Kids Program. We will choose youth who have potential. We will help them stay in high school and on to university and many of them will turn around and influence and help others! This is multiplication!

It’s not just investing in 100 youth – many of those 100 youth will turn around and influence many more than I could ever influce. The investment will reach into the thousands! This has been my mission and strategy for the past 26 years. The church and organization I helped start and lead and be a part of the leadership team for so many years now has nationwide influence because of Cambodians passing it forward!

I’d like to encourage you to take the Christmas Challenge!
The Christmas Challenge

As we approach the Christmas Season I’d like to encourage you to consider investing into the children and youth of Cambodia. You can’t save everyone, but you can save one…and he or she will probably reach out and save others, thus multiplying your investment.

I can have ten youth selected for sponsorship/scholarship by 31 January. By December 31, 2021 I can have 20 more selected for scholarships.

It costs about USD$650 for a one-year university education. Wny not commit to four years of sponsorship….or just try one year for now. We willinsure you get communication with the youth you sponsor as well as a photo so you can see the life you’re saving!

But you know there are administrative costs, too. I want the scholarship money to go to the children and youth, but there are bank fees, and we will have staff and operating expenses, too. We’re in need of administrativ costs right now to get set up to move forward. USD$25,000.

I’d like to encourage you to consider a scholarship for these 10 students and also a contribution for the administrative costs so we can actually run the program. You may not be able to do it but maybe you can help some and maybe you know others who can invest in saving a child, saving a family and perhaps saving a generation!

Update #19

I’m sure you’ve heard this story before. It’s true. I’ve lived in Cambodia for 26 years. The needs are so vast here it’s emotionally overwhelming. However, I realize that I’m only one person and I can’t save everyone and I can’t solve all the problems. But I can save one person and I can solve one problem. Over the years that’s multiplied into helping tens of thousands of people and solving thousands of problems.

Cambodian University Students
Last week I was chatting with some of my university students.

A university education really is the hope for many Cambodian youth. They get a good education, a good job and they can support themselves and also help support their parents and siblings and provide a Path of Hope for their younger siblings to follow.

The students were sharing with me that many of their classmates had to drop out of school because they didn’t have the $650 (approximately) per year to pay tuition. (That’s a four-year university education for $2,400+-!)

Life is tough! With COVID-19 it makes it even tougher. I know you know many who have lost their jobs and are in a very bad situation.

In Cambodia there is no social security. No old-folks pension for farmers. Many poor farmers live on small loans from the bank, which many default on, or worse yet, they borrow from a local lender at interest rates that are impossible to repay – they sell their chickens; sell their pigs; sell a portion of their land…and some have even sold their child into a life that ends up in human trafficking.

You can’t save every starfish, but you can save one.

I’d like for you to consider doing two things as a Christmas gesture in 2020:

Send a scholarship of USD$650 to keep one student in school for one year..and consider doing it again the following year. When the student is selected we will give you a photo, bio, and report 2x per year and you can communicate with him/her, too.
Send a one-off gift to help us with administration. You know an organization can’t do it without some administrative costs. Facilities, staff and doing the field visits and reports.
You can make donations in the following ways:

Fundly (they and their partner Stripe take a small % out of the donation):

https://fundly.com/vimean-s-kids?fbclid=IwAR38NGUmW-RbEGe8ZRrwOHYJ4Y8uEJML98uQYILVoAVFJ4KoC_NdABvoFgc

Update #18

My strategy in seeing this program develop is to follow my lines of connections. After being in Cambodia for 26 years I have many connections.

Yesterday I went to a village with a friend for research purposes. I"m not ready to sponsor kids yet, as we are still in the First Phase of raising funds to lay a solid foundation, doing research and creating processes.

I went to this village, not to far from Siem Reap City. After lookng around and being introduced to a few people I was looking for teenagers to interview about the situation. I saw this one young girl and asked, How old are you? She said, Thirteen (both of us speaking in the Cambodian Language). I then asked, What grade are you in? Her reply: Third Grade. I forced a smile but my heart sank. She should have at least been in the 8th or 9th grade What will he r future be.

This is common for Cambodia. Her school is far away and it was just too much trouble to enroll her at 6 years old, so the parents put off her education. Being behind in grades is aone of the primary reasons children drop out

This is one reason why I'm doing Vimean's Kids Program.

Experience has shown it won't take long for a girl like this to catch up if she had some personal attention (thus, the need for personal tutoring as part of the VKP Package).

Thank you so much for your involvementn with this program - in giving and in helping to pass the opportunity along to others.

As stated, we're in the "Launching Year" Phase now. Lots of research, small office, gathering the supplies we need, a couple of staff, lots of staff training and visits to villages like this. All this foundation has to be done first.

If we can get the funds for this Launching Year I believe we can have 10 chilldren to seek sponsorships for in four months or less. In 2021 we start School on a Mat and by the end of the year have 20 more children to sponsor.

Thank you for Likjing and Sharing this information.

Sincerely,

Charles McCaul

THINKING OF VIMEAN TODAY

As I'm sitting at my computer working on the details of sponsoring 100 children to stay in school, finish university and mentoring them to become leaders in their sphere of Cambodian society, I can't help think of Vimean. He was an amazing man and I consider it an honor to have helped him move into his destiny. He helped so many children and youth.

Thank you for partnering with us as we seek to carry on his great work in a very focused way which he would approve of.

Please share this information to those who might like to partner with us in obtaining the start-up costs and then obtaining the sponsors for 10 children in the first few months of 2020 and 20 more by the end of 2020.

It's a big project. Thank you for standing with us.

Vimean Moung was a Cambodian children’s and youth leader who touched tens of thousands of youth during his short lifetime. He died in 2020 at the age of 39 from health problems. His passion was to provide quality education for children who could not afford it.
