We are raising funds for the buildout of a safe & inclusive play space for children with Autism & their friends to learn through play. This space is "where parents will never have to say I'm sorry!"
We are only short $35,000 to begin buildout and need the funds within 2 weeks! Can you help us get more supporters!
We did it! We are preparing to begin construction on our sensory gym in just a few weeks. The contributions received will go towards unexpected construction costs. Any unused funds, will roll over into our nonprofit organization, My Brother Rocks the Spectrum.

Through our nonprofit My Brother Rocks The Spectrum Foundation, we provide social skills groups, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy and activities for children across the spectrum in our sensory gym. We strive daily to continue to carry out our mission of being a safe haven and “finally a place where you never have to say I’m sorry!®”
We Rock the Spectrum Kid’s Gym – Chesapeake was founded to provide a place for children of all ability levels to play and grow together. As the only kid’s gym that offers an inclusive philosophy, we have found all children can benefit from our uniquely designed sensory equipment that is specifically designed to aid children with sensory processing disorders. However, in our experience, all children are able to benefit greatly from this equipment and by allowing children of all ability levels to play together they are able to learn a great deal from each other and become the best motivation for success on every level.

Hi everyone! We are so close to our goal. We have obtained the $200k we need to get started, but we could still use some help. We are in need of only $30,000 & we are on our way. Do you know of any colleagues or friends that can help us reach this goal? $25 can go a very long way as we cross this finish line.
Whitney King is a Behavior Consultant who works with families impacted by Autism and other intellectual, developmental, & mental health diagnoses. She helps teach each family how to incorporate person-centered practices to support their child with living a more meaningful life. Whitney believes that every person can learn, and all education is “special education”. Whitney has learned over the years that learning is a lifelong process and it is more successful when the gap is bridged between school, home, & the community.
Whitney received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the illustrious South
Carolina State University, and holds a master’s degree in special education from
Liberty University. She has taken coursework in Applied Behavior Analysis, from St. Joseph’s University Capella University.
Whitney founded LEAF Behavior Support after years of experience as a special education teacher. Whitney has hosted many workshops aimed to increase knowledge in the areas of behavior modification and reinforcement to offer direct support for professionals, Case Managers, Administrators, First Responders, and parents.
Whitney serves on the Positive Behavior Support endorsement board with the
Public Partnerships under Virginia Commonwealth University. Whitney enjoys spending time & traveling with her 2 beautiful children & fiancée.
This past weekend, we had the opportunity to attend the annual Autism Summit with F.A.C.T. & The Tidewater Autism Society. The families were sooo excited about this gym finally coming to the Tidewater area and we shared the joy with them all. They also enjoyed the delicious treats they received for helping us spread the word
Meet the Owners! Did you know that one of the owners of We Rock the Spectrum-Virginia Beach is an active duty officer in the US Army?!
Mary is a Logistics Officer for the United States Army. She currently serves as a Company Commander responsible for the health and welfare of 141 Soldiers and their families. She ensures that her Soldiers are ready to support this Country whenever they are called upon. She has served in the United States Army for 12 years. Mary has served in Korea, Hungary, and Afghanistan. She has been honored and recognized for her dedication to service and has received several awards and decorations. Most notable is the Bronze Presidential Volunteer Service Medal.
Mary received her bachelor’s degree in business management from South Carolina University. She has also graduated from several military schools to include the Army Logistics University as a Master Logistician.
Mary has three beautiful children, Riley 5, Ryder 2, and Gabrielle 8 months. Mary’s fiancée Darryl is an engineer and looks forward to supporting his new family as well. Mary has learned over the years that service is a lifelong commitment, and is most fulfilled when serving others. As Mary prepares to exit the military in the next few years, she was searching for a position that would allow her to continue to serve people and she believes she has fulfilled that in becoming an owner of We Rock the Spectrum!
Mary embodies the spirit of serving and you can too! A contribution of any amount will support us as we empower families across Virginia Beach and surrounding areas.
I started this fundraiser a few months ago and we are deep into the process! We are officially We Rock the Spectrum-Virginia Beach.
We Rock the Spectrum-Virginia Beach joins 100 other locations, across 24 states & 8 countries. We are so excited and continue to need your support for our buildout!
Our vision is to become the most inclusive & accessible play gym in the Hampton Roads.
We will have a host of staffers and volunteers who come to us in order to assist our gym and its goal of aiding children with special needs in growing beyond the expectations of doctors and therapists. Often a therapist for a child with special needs will attend the gym with the children in order to observe and provide their therapy while using the equipment in our gym. This allows kids the access they want to the amazing equipment while the therapist is able to take advantage of the support and availability of the staff and equipment which might not be present in other settings.

Guess what guys. We are halfway at our goal!
It is crunch time and I know we can do this! If you believe in the mission behind this fundraiser, do me a huge favor and ask 5 people who you know personally to contribute to this fundraiser.
This isn't about me, but rather bringing a resource to endless families that will benefit from your graciousness.
Help us reach our goal! We want to bring in $5,000 per week for the next 6 weeks. Once that happens, the goal will be met!!!
As you know, we are still fundraising for the inclusive playspace. In the meantime, we wanted to share information about our newest program Little Sprouts Social Group. Little Sprouts Social Group is designed to encourage language development and social interactions through play. Participants, ages 3-6, will improve social skills awareness, problem solving, life skills, & more. The social skills group is facilitated by the wonderful Shamika Godbold, BCaBA and she will have an RBT with her to assist each session.
Sessions are held every other Saturday starting June 19. As a bonus, parents will have the opportunity to sit with a behavior consultant and learn strategies for how to support their child at home & gain access to a private Facebook community to meet other parents across the globe. Register today as there are only 6 slots left!

Are you aware of the cognitive benefits of play? Playful behavior has very positive effects on the brain, on a child’s ability to learn, and functions as a crucial mode for learning. Every day, children around the world engage in pretend play that simulates various sorts of activities they will need to master as adults, which suggests play is a form of practice.
This month, you can aid in our efforts of raising funds to create an inclusive playspace by purchasing a toy from our online toy store. All proceeds from your purchase will go towards the fundraiser. The child in your life will thank you and the families who benefit from this playspace will forever be grateful! Visit the website today to purchase your toy items www.learnwithleaf.com
