We have reached our goal of $1200 with donations here and from some outside donations! Thank you to all of the supporters! Valorie is truly grateful! We will be hiring her lawyer on Monday October 2nd.
Valorie is a kind, caring, loving woman.
Her past has had some issues, which she is paying for now.Over a year ago she was incarcerated and while there her traffic court mess was in full swing. She failed to appear at her court date in June 2016 due to her being locked up since May 2016. The Suffolk Courts failed to recognize she was locked up and placed her in a fugitive status. FOR OVER A YEAR!. It took a lot of phone calls and in person appearance to get the courts to realize she is not a fugitive and can appear in court. We finally have a court date for her but she needs a fighting chance. She needs a real Lawyer. We are trying to raise $1200 from family and friends by Oct 4th.
What this will go to is the total cost of the lawyer. What it can benefit is that she could be looking at jail time for the traffic violations, she will get the fugitive status dropped, and have high chances of any time she would have to serve could be deemed already served where she is at now. She was assigned a public defender but let's face it, they don't help. It's very short notice I understand, we have 2 weeks to hire this lawyer. Everything is set in motion but the funding. She would be extremely grateful to anyone who can donate and it won't go unnoticed.Thank You to all!
She has a release date from her current location on January 8th 2018 where she plans to be reunited with her boyfriend, her 2 dogs, and her 1 cat. They also plan to start a family in the future. Valorie really needs your help so she can truly get her life back in order upon her release.
So after speaking with Valorie and her lawyer here is the latest update:
Valorie is super excited and extremely grateful to everyone helping her. Also she has high hopes for her case with having a real lawyer vs a court appointed lawyer. She sends her love to everyone and is excited to do some artwork for those supporting her.
Update from the lawyer: we still have until Oct 4th to pay IN FULL the amount of $1200 to hire this lawyer. However, the lawyer says he will be able to toss out her fugitive status due to the fact is was given out after she was already incarcerated which is also why she has a warrant out for her arrest (makes no sense). He will also be able to have a high chance of getting her time required to serve for the suspended license charge to run with her current time being served, which means she will not have to serve more time after her release in January.
Thank you again to all the supporters and all future supporters!
