Update #6

OK. Latest update is just that I will be filling out a customer form for the pistol in the name of an FFL in Florida that the EODWF has worked with in the past. When the pistol is fabricated, it will be sent directly to the FFL in Florida. Once the winner has been identified, they will provide their information for background check, and pay the small processing fee for that, or they will provide an FFL of their choosing (in another location) to do the same. If it will be going to another FFL, the one in Florida will coordinate the transfer to the destination FFL, with the winner paying for any transfer fees (again, to my understanding is minimal) That is about all on that. I am waiting to hear back from Kimber via Bob Mann if they will be able to provide a photo of pistol and case for the auction. We will get it all squared away!!! Hoping Bob Mann will have some other good news from Kimber as well.... MTF. Thank you all again for your donations!!! The Polar Plunge is this weekend, and I think I will be handing over about 2 grand to the EODWF from that thing as well!!!!

More Info

Just trying to raise 1100.00 in order to pay for a special order Kimber 1911 USMC EOD editiion pistol and case to be donated to the EOD Memorial Auction this year.  Intent is for donations to come from USMC EOD technicians both retired and active in order to make this from USMC EOD techs.

Need to raise the money kind of quickly in order to get the pistol ordered in enough time to have it presented at the Memorial Auction on 2 or 3 May.

Alternate option will be to have a photo of pistol and case at auction, and then the winner will supply an address of an FFL dealer to send to, and I will transfer the funds from the account to Kimber for purchase and transfer to the auction winner.

ONE MORE THING

The balance of funds that will remain after paying for pistol and case (approx 100 or so dollars) I will cut a check and donate that directly to the EOD Memorial Fund as a cash donation in the name of USMC EOD as well. Just do not want any of you out there to think I as going to pocket the difference! HAHA

DONE SIR DONE!!!! CLOSING DONATIONS!!!!!

I am going to shut down the donations, as we have MORE than made the money for a pistol and a case to donate to this years auction. Well done everyone. You have my deepest gratitude. But I did not need to explain to any of you on here why this was important. Just know that is was massively appreciated. The EODWF is EXTREMELY excited about this donation.

I am going to post the information that Robert Mann sent out to everyone that will be doing a personal buy of the pistol so you will know the process/wait time for the pistol to be in the hand of the winner.

That being said, I will be sending down a framed photograph of the pistol and the custom box to be given to the winner. I am trying to coordinate a certificate of sorts from Kimber identifying a certain pistol in the run as the one to be given to the winner. I will post updates on my Facebook page, because I believe that once I transfer funds out of this account and shut down donations, I will need to shut down the Fundly site. I will let you know once I figure that out.

24 CHARACTERS on the right slide will be the max. Am thinking "NEVER FORGOTTEN USMC EOD" Thats 24 characters. (with spaces)

I am open to other suggestions, but I think this pretty much sums it up.

That is all for now. Below is the info on the pistol from Kimber.

To all,
This is the flyer. Please do not shoot the messenger, the price of the display box went up to 150.00. The pistol is as advertised. Kimber WILL NOT ship to California. So have one of your buddies pick it up in another state for you in.

Please Note That this Pistol will have 24 Characters inscribed on it for you. Please ensure that you fill in the last block of the form so that Kimber can engrave whatever it is that you want on there. I intend to donate my pistol to the EOD memorial Auction when I shove on over to the dark side so I put "USMC Master EOD Tech", on mine. Sorta generic!!

So like if everyone on the list orders a pistol, then it will be over 50 pistols total, which brings the price down to 825.00. I have 64 commitments on the list as some said they would buy more than one.

Expect a 16 - 20 week run time, so obviously they won't be ready soon.

DEAD LINE IS MAR 2nd, 2014. I will follow through on this and mail out a 1 week left countdown to the emails that I have.

Happy Shooting or collecting or what have you. Remember that Stumpies Custom Guns will hold pistols for those who are deployed. They are based in Jacksonville, NC.

PLEASE SEND THIS OUT TO ANY AND ALL USMC EOD TECHS so no one gets left out this time. Bob

MADE IT!!!!!

We have reached the goal!!!!! You all are amazing. I am going to keep the donation site open for a few more days, because I found out (by reading.... haha) that fundly charges a procesing fee.... so I have to make sure the pistol and the case are covered by the fund less the processing fees... Hope that is ok. Also, I MAY have extra good news in the coming days.... More to follow on that. Thank you all each and every one of you techs that pulled it out in record time. HUGE SHOUT OUT AND THANK YOU TO RICH HARRINGTON!!!! Big Country himself threw done the largest donation to date.... Thank you Rich!!!! I will post some detail information about how I am going to transfer funds to Kimber, and how exactly this process will go down (pistol on site for auction or certificate with follow on delievery to FFL)

Also, do you all think I should put "2014 EOD Memorial Auction" on the slide, or "Never Forgetten - From USMC EOD"?

I have to get the details from Kimber on how many letters, if I can even put that on the slide, or what. I will let you all know that as well.

THANK YOU ALL AGAIN SO MUCH FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!!!! I will keep you all informed through the whole thing until some lucky person helps the EOD Memoiral Fund out by going hom with this great pistol.

Info/Update

I spoke with the folks with the EOD Warrior Foundation in Florida that manage the memorial auction yesterday. Depending on when Kimber will be able to deliver the pistol will determine how it is delivered for the auction. If it can be there in enough time to physically be at the auction, then I will have Kimber ship to an FFL that the EODWF deals with in Florida. If it will not, or it would be logistically easier for the winner, I will jjust send down a framed photo and certificate with the serial # down to the Memorial and the winner will supply me with FFL dealer of choice. I will then have Kimber ship direct to the destination FFL.

Also, I am trying to work with Kimber via Robert Mann to see if I can have "2014 EOD Memorial" put on the slide of the pistol. Was thinking about in place of "Initial Success or Total Failure", having "Never Forgotten - USMC EOD" Thoughts? As always... thank you all for your donations!!!
