I'm raising money for the start up of my non-profit business which will award grants to families and elderly people helping them pay for the costs to maintain adequate shelter.
As for all people, life has it's way of creating hardships to try and prevent us from doing what we are destin to do. I have an epileptic husband and two beautiful daughters and everything I do in life is for them. As a young African American, married couple with a family, we have defied odds beyond anything imaginable. The Universe has gone out of its way to break us down but to together, we have managed to plow through life's road blocks and stay strong and true to our morals. We have a personal dedication to positively impact our world and help people in ways we have needed help so many times.I am developing a non-profit business which will distribute grants to struggling families and elderly people helping them with the costs and fees associated with eviction filings and past due rent. There has been too many times where my family has been faced with the burden of being evicted or homeless due to life circumstances that were absolutely out of our control.Unfortunately, there is little to no help or social service that focuses on financial assistance to PREVENT these types of catastrophic events from happening. The assistance that is available can't even be applied for until you have already been evicted or you're so far behind that you will be homeless by the time they review your application. That is a heavy weight to carry, especially if you have children. My business is designed to be proactive opposed to reactivate. As most have experienced, when a rent payment is late, there are associated fees that will be added to your balance making it almost impossible for you to get in good standing. Just one month of being behind due to an unexpected financial issue, begins the process of a vicious cycle which can be virtually impossible to get out of.The objective is to offer one time grants to people, which will stop this vicious cycle before it begins. By simply assisting these people at the appropriate time, it will decrease the number of homeless families and individuals annually and prevent the separation of families that happens when forced to be housed in a shelter or group home.Financial counseling will be provided to help plan for future rent payments to be paid on time. Part of the qualification process is proving that you have the means to make future payments on time, so grant money is not awarded in vein. Some circumstances change and people are in a position where there expenses simply outweigh their income. In these instances, we help provide skills for potential career advancement and partner with established employers for potential job placement. If it is determined through financial counseling that bankruptcy is a reasonable solution to a person's circumstance, they will be referred to a bankruptcy lawyer and we may help aid with the cost of filing the bankruptcy. My own personal income and some smaller fundraising is what currently funds this venture. I'm looking to expand my business financially so the number of families and individuals I can help will drastically increase. I am using this as another source hoping to generate donations solely for the purpose of funding this business.I have a goal but every penny contributes to a dollar and even the smallest of donations will be a part of a larger impact.Thank you in advance for your contributiona and paying your blessings forward.
