We're raising money to send supplies to Ukrainian soldiers. We’ve collected shoes, gloves, other clothing, and protective gear including bullet-proof vests. We’re currently raising money for thermal lenses.
Happy Ukrainian Independence Day! Today (August 24th) is the 31st anniversary of 1991 signing of the Ukrainian Declaration of Independence.
I was born in Ukraine and most of my family still lives there. For the holiday, I wanted to do something to help support the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia. When Russia first took Crimea in 2014, the Ukrainian Military was woefully unprepared. My dad was aware of troops in particular need of helmets. Together with our family and friends, we raised money, bought surplus gear in the US and shipped it out to Ukraine. When the war began in earnest, he again started shipping out supplies.
The effort is based in Chicago and helped along by other Ukrainian small business owners. We’ve collected shoes, gloves, other clothing, and protective gear including bullet-proof vests. We’re currently raising money for thermal lenses.
The pictures above are of our last shipment of supplies, some of the helmets we collected back in 2014, and a very kind thank you letter from Ukrainian Military Unit A0734.
Please see the attached videos as well. In one, my uncle is staring with the supplies we purchased. He is our contact in Ukraine to further get supplies where they are needed. In the other unit 129 is thanking us for the help.
Please stay tuned on this page for updates! We're looking to start a tiny non-profit organization to further support this effort.
