I'll be running the Berlin Marathon in September while raising funds for Umbrella for Infants, a charity started by my friends, Dan and Kate Brown, in honor of their daughter, Ella.
In 2016, I ran the New York City Marathon for charity. In 2018, I ran the Boston Marathon for charity. For 2019, I got lucky and made it into the Berlin Marathon through the lottery program. But what would racing a World Major Marathon be without be without raising money for a good cause!
For the Berlin Marathon, I've teamed up with Umbrella for Infants. The mission of Umbrella for Infants is to support families with sick infants by offering individualized care, funding research, and identifying helpful resources during each baby's journey.
Dan and Kate Brown started Umbrella for Infants after their daughter, Ella, passed away from a rare autoinflammatory disease. They spent every moment they possibly could with her in the NICU for the 3 ½ months she was with them. During her short life, she taught them the importance of helping other when you can and accepting help when you need it.
Umbrella for Infants will honor her memory by providing individualized support and care for families facing unimaginable challenges.
