Accessible - Engaged - Accountable
We believe local government should listen to and work with the residents of the Village. Rather than disregard the passionate voices and hard work of the community, we want to involve the entire village, and represent the diverse perspectives of the residents.
We will actively listen to the opinions and needs of everyone in our community. Whether you are a long-term resident, new to the area, or a local business owner, we’ll work to ensure you have input about how your Village works. Rather than just pushing out premade decisions through formal postings or legally mandated hearings, we will reach out and engage the community in new ways: more informal meetings, real communication through social media, and creating liaisons to schools, civic organizations, business associations, and houses of worship. Our communication will not be a “one-way street,” but a meaningful exchange of opinions and ideas. You will contribute to the decision-making process in Tuckahoe, and you will be brought into the process from the beginning, not as an afterthought.
We want to find new ways to keep residents informed of what's going on in Village Hall and in the community. We can do this using a new and improved website, newsletters, social media and even text alerts for pressing updates.
Positive leadership means earning your trust by listening and understanding your concerns and needs. It means respect for community input. We aspire to be the kinds of leaders that will reach out and work with you to improve our Village together.
We’re for smart and sensible development in Tuckahoe. Sensible development means developing a strategic plan for building that considers the needs of the entire community. Rather than greenlighting anything that comes to the table, including reckless and high-risk projects, we want to work with you to find the best way to develop our community. What do the current residents want and need, and what might attract new residents or visitors to Tuckahoe? We will explore new ideas to develop the economy in the Village. How can we attract innovative and unique businesses that will give new life to our village and solidify Tuckahoe’s place in the new economy? Tuckahoe is a unique, treasured Village with a deep history and promising future. We want you to be part of the process of developing it for the future.
We also want to ensure the protection of our community from any environmental risks. We will work very closely with the DEC on the clean-up of the P-Sites on Marbledale Road, ensuring the community is safe and keeping the residents informed every step of the way.
Better Fiscal Management
We’re committed to improving the fiscal management of our Village. Our residents and businesses pay a lot of their hard-earned money in taxes. We don’t want taxpayers to pay one penny more than necessary, so we’re committed to responsible budgeting, eliminating wasteful spending, and conducting smarter financial planning through a transparent process. We will look closely at the process for fines, fees and permits to see where we can streamline and ensure residents are not feeling burned by excessive payments.
