Tri-Five Chevy Bel Air Convertible Restoration

Tri-Five Chevy Bel Air Convertible Restoration

From Kris Sorge

I'm looking to raise money for a father and sons (ages 10, 8 & 4) bonding project: rebuilding and restoring a Tri-Five (1955, 1956 or 1957) Chevy Bel Air Convertible to its former glory

I wish to purchase and fully restore a Tri-Five Chevy Bel Air Convertible as a bonding project with my three boys, ages 10, 8 and 4.

I have always loved the classic styling of the Tri-Five and can't think of a better project to accomplish over the next several years with my boys.  I intend to find and purchase a chassis and body in need of serious restoration and accomplish what I can at home in my garage with my boys, outsourcing the hard stuff that takes specialized equipment and tooling to accomplish.

In the process, my boys will not only learn the practical knowledge of how a car works, but I hope that we can spend quality father-son time together tearing down and rebuilding something of beauty, getting them away from video games and other distractions plaguing today's youth.  I hope to instill in them the love for things from another era and realize that taking care of things from the past is the best way to ensure a successful future.

I intend to post updates throughout the project, from purchasing the chassis and body, all the way through full restoration.  This is expected to take several years to complete, but rest assured that I will post regular updates regarding our progress along the way.

Thank you for reading and any donation, large or small, is greatly appreciated.
