Update #3

I don't know how to thank any of you enough. I've hit 50% of my tuition for Berkowits School of Electrolysis and I am humbled, honored, and grateful for each and every one of you who are helping this dream become reality.

By the end of this week I plan to be enrolled to start my electrolysis program and on my way to T4T Electrolysis!

YOU made this possible.

THANK YOU ♥

More Info

Insurance companies don't want to cover hair removal and capitalism has made electrolysis  expensive and unobtainable. Screw that. We deserve better and as a community we CAN.

Why fund my campaign?

- Anti-capitalist

I don't believe in making profit, I believe in making a living wage and no more. Any money made (minus business expenses) above $50,000/year* will be given to a community fund for free electrolysis.

-QTPOC Focused

Our world gives too many perks to people who systemically already have an advantage. It's time to fight back and put our QTPOC first. Electrolysis is one of the best, and sometimes the ONLY way, for POC to achieve permanent hair removal as they are often not candidates for laser hair removal.

Laser hair removal should not be considered the default and electrolysis the alternative, when laser only works on light skinned, dark haired people. We need community electrolysis, not laser hair removal.

-Trans4Trans focused

While paid services wont be exclusive to just trans people, free sessions/ sliding scale options are for OUR community. Because it SHOULD be included in our healthcare and isn't.

I can't change the system, but I CAN help trans people get affordable/free permanent hair removal. Help me make trans-focused permanent hair removal a reality for our community.

-Any and every donation makes a difference

I don't need to meet the full goal listed here on fundly to be able to keep these donation reward promises. I am saving for my tuition as well. That means that every donation gets me to school faster- even if we don't make the full goal. That means that even a $10 donation makes this dream realize sooner. Every little bit is a step towards community electrolysis.

What is this money going to specifically?

Funds raised here will go towards my (Elairis Morrow) tuition at Berkowits School of Electrolysis in Queens. Any money raised beyond the cost of tuition ($5,950) will go towards starting business costs and initial operating costs. (Not to exceed $15,000)

If for some incredible reason any money is raised beyond that, that money will go directly to a static wage for myself so that I can offer free electrolysis to our community. Any money made in excess past that wage (i.e. "profit") will be donated to QTPOC focused local community charities.

I do not believe in making a profit; our community deserves better than capitalism. Help me make Trans4Trans Electrology a reality.

*salary will be based on location and current inflation to compensate to a living wage. Exact salary amount will always be 100% transparent and publicly available. All business income, expenses and donations will also be transparent and available for viewing.

Update #2

Together WE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE!

As of this morning my goal (which is the cost of tuition) is 10% funded!! That's INCREDIBLE and I couldn't do it without YOU.

I was also told about a small setback, my program is too short (120hrs) to qualify for Financial Aid, so my next option is personal loans. I don't believe I can qualify for those (though I'm going to try!)

What does this mean for us?

Well for you all, it just means I don't have enough to put a start date on attending school just yet; but Berkowits is expecting me as soon as I can pay. Until I graduate, I can't do electrolysis. But fear not- I am still on my way!

Consider sharing my campaign to your friends who may also want cheap electrolysis vouchers. Donation vouchers are priced at $10/hr or less for anyone who wants to help fund my tuition.

Thank you all for believing in my dream and are helping make it a reality. I can not express enough how grateful I am to you all. Together we are making a difference. ♥
