I have always been an avid runner and last year as I approached my 40th birthday I was hoping to finally run my first ever marathon at the 1st annual Myles Standish Marathon in Plymouth. My plan, however, met with a speed bump or, better yet a major derailment.
My husband, Stephen was diagnosed on July 31, 2013 with stage 4 colon cancer at the ripe age of 42. He was told his chances were 30% to survive 5 years. Basically they told us to get our affairs in order. We took that news and attacked the cancer head on. After multiple surgeries, radiation and chemotherapy, we are happy to say he is 3 months cancer free!!!! You can follow our story at http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/stephentaylor2
So now, the Marathon training is ON! I started training on Sunday, August 11 at the Falmouth Road Race and will end my journy by running my first ever marathon on Sunday November 17 at the 2nd annual Myles Standish Marathon in Plymouth. Team “Tough As Tayls” wishes to pay it forward to the Friends of Julie organization, who generously sent our family of a very much needed, even more appreciated FAMILY vacation.
