Far out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean is a tiny island named Peleliu. It is primarily known for its part in World War II, but it is much more than just a place of history. It is home to about 700 people. It is a place where children spend their afternoons riding bikes and playing follow the leader. It is where generosity is stronger than any other place on Earth.
And now it is heavily damaged. Typhoon Bopha came through a few days ago and turned a happy, peaceful village into a pile of broken walls and crushed cars.
Join us as we help get building supplies directly into the hands of the people in the State of Peleliu. We have set up an account with the local hardware supplier in Palau (the country Peleliu is in). Each dollar that is donated will go straight to supplying much needed hardware and tools that will help these people put their lives back together.
(At this moment it is difficult to make contact with Peleliu as they are without power or phonelines, and probably will be for weeks, if not months. For now, the only way to communicate is via friends in Palau who take a boat out to Peleliu. When we have more specific projects defined, we will let you know.)
**The first four pictures in the slideshow are from OceanTV network, and are of another village in Palau. We are still waiting to see pictures of Peleliu itself. However, it has been described by all as very heavy.
