The Black Health Commission, Inc is hosting #TheVillage- A Community Baby Shower. We are asking for donations to help shower our local expecting parents with gifts that will help ease the stress of being a new parent!
Despite education or socioeconomic status, black mothers are 3-4 times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than white mothers. Through research, we learned that racial bias and a patient's lack of knowledge plays a role in this. As a result, Rebecca Desir founded The Black Health Commission, Inc to empower minorities to take charge of their health through education, research, and advocacy. The first event we will host is #TheVillage- A Community Baby Shower in Orlando, Florida. We would love to partner with our local community agencies and invite our community to host this baby shower together. We need help to purchase the items for expecting parents and ensure that each family receives the same amount of items. We cannot do that without the help of our community. Please donate whatever you can to this cause and we will see you in August!
