Bosnia and Herzegovina

Approximately 2,700 to 3,000 asylum seekers and migrants are currently residing outside of formal accommodation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Some live in squats, abandoned houses or tents in the forest. They have been stuck here for weeks, months and sometimes for years, waiting to cross the Croatian border to make their way to western Europe.

They live in terrible condition with no running water, no showers, toilets or electricity. Local and foreign groups are helping them as much as they can to provide them with basic needs, such as food, cloths sleeping bags, and wood to stay warm during the freezing winter where temperatures can drop bellow -20 degrees at night.

From an assessment we conducted, many migrants suffer from skin, stomach and teeth problems due to the lack of hygiene. They have very little hygiene products, temperatures are freezing cold and they do not have access to running water. Some told us they didn't shower for 3 months!

Therefore we are starting a shower project. The goal is to provide every squat and tent with a shower and hygiene products:

  • A bucket
  • A water canister
  • A wooden frame
  • Curtains
  • Hygiene products

We believe that providing these items will increase the number of shower they can take and minimise diseases due to the lack of hygiene. With 350 euros we can provide 1 shower and hygiene products to 10 squats in Bosnia allowing dozens of people to shower more frequently.

But for this we need your help! This project is entirely non profit and all the money collected will only go to this project. We will update you on the project along the way with some photos of the donations! We will also poste on the Facebook page:

Thank you!
