We are raising funds to establish the Pontella Mason Foundation that will contribute to mural restoration and art education in the city of Baltimore.
Introduction: Following in the spirit of community revitalization that Pontella Mason encouraged through his murals, the Pontella Mason Foundation seeks to become an important voice in both the City of Baltimore and the community at large, that speaks on behalf of artists. One that encourages community support, and works to create a safe and healthy, creative society.
Art is an important part of our society, and that is made evident in the bubbling artistic/creative culture found within Baltimore City. Week after week, new artists showcase their talents on the sides of buildings to continue the tradition of mural painting that artists like Pontella Mason helped establish as far back as the 1970's. He believed that artists shouldn't starve, and we hope to support that narrative in as many ways as possible.
We hope to raise funds to support the launch of the foundation this Spring. Through the foundation we will:
Our hope is to make a significant impact on art education in Baltimore, while contributing to the effort of community revitalization that is so necessary in our city.
How You Can Help: We cannot begin this undertaking without your support! There are two ways you can help!
We are asking anyone who has enjoyed the work of Pontella Mason either by his murals or his private collection to make a contribution to this effort to continue his legacy. The more help we can galvanize, the greater impact we will be able to have in and around the city of Baltimore.
