Dear Ward 5, Friends & Family,
I am excited and very proud to announce my decision to run for City Council in Ward 5 of North Minneapolis. I see a time of great transformation on the horizon. I pledge to you that I will be an advocate for positive change on behalf of all Ward 5 residents, businesses, and community organizations.
I am committed to creating the highest quality of life for all of Ward 5. I understand that together we can build on our active and empowered community. My commitment is to lead us to excellence in Fair Housing, Economics, Education, Community Development, and Effective Youth & Senior Services.
I am a proud fourth generation Black Minnesotan, who walks in a deeply rooted, powerful history. My grandmother Adelia Nevils, and mother Rosemary Nevils-Williams have been advocates and champions of change for communities of color for over 65 years in Minnesota. And now I too, walk in these honorable footsteps.
Our community deserves so much more than subpar public services and distressed neighborhoods. With your support and input, we will move Ward 5 away from business as usual and further towards prosperity, community empowerment, and an overall brighter future. I look forward to engaging with each of you as we make progress towards our goals, dreams, wishes, and personal commitments to Our Ward 5, and the City of Minneapolis as a whole. We will continue to build our community, together.
It is imperative that we have a City Council member who operates in accountability, equity, and justice for all; and I am that person.
Together, we will create the best “Our Ward 5” Minneapolis has ever seen.
With love and solidarity,
Raeisha “Ra” Williams
