The Paradox was started in October of 2010.

We are in Oak Ridge, Tennessee near Knoxville and draw students from an 80 mile radius.

The Paradox is a safe, drug free, nonjudgmental environment for teens to hang out, share talents, hear local bands, skateboard and just be teens. Our mission is to connect unchurched teens with caring Christian teens and adults.

We hope that these friendships will help link them to local congregations. The goal is to give the non-churched teens  a chance to develop lasting relationships with Jesus Christ.

Since opening:

  • Over 450 area youth & adults have Skateboarded at the Paradox.
  • Other activities at The Paradox include: Dances, Movie nights, Lock-ins, concerts featuring local bands, Bible study and monthly Youth lead worship  averaging 65 students.
  • Most of our regular skateboarders come from broken homes, some with parents in prison or dealing with drug issues. We have served over 2000 meals to students, because many of the students come right from school and stay until we close.  Unfortunately, for a lot of the students no one seems to care where they are or if they have food to eat.  Most of the food is donated and we have lots of homemade meals provided by local churches.

By adding the wheelchair accessible restrooms, a sprinkler system, a kitchen and an exit ramp, we can triple the number of students allowed by the City of Oak Ridge and we can begin to expand our ministry as the Lord provides.
