Jasper Kids is a Christian children's home operating in the countryside of Northern Thailand. We provide children food, clothes, shelter, and the means to attend school. We also operate a college home in Chiang Mai.
Jasper Kids is home to 30-50 children each year, and 10-15 college students. We recently celebrated our 20th anniversary. Through the support and partnership of individuals just like you, Jasper Kids has been able to do the following:
95% of Jasper Kids donors are individuals. However, like many small non-profit organizations, COVID has impacted a number of our faithful supporters. This Fundly campaign is in an effort to cover much needed capital expenses that are vital to the ongoing ability of Jasper Kids to serve the local community. For US taxpayers, we are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
We need to raise funds for two new trucks which are the primary mode of transportation to/from school and also to/from the children's distant tribal villages. Our current vehicle is now 18 years old and has over 250k km (~160k miles) on the odometer. The other truck is 13 years old. There are no paved roads to the villages, so vehicle reliability is important. Our trucks will not last forever.
We are also raising funds to upgrade much needed technology and housing improvements. In particular, the children are sharing three computers that were purchased in 2003, and seen only one cpu upgrade since.
With whatever funds we raise, our usage will be prioritized as follows (all figures in USD):
1. Truck for JK children transport ($34,000)
2. Four Computers ($3,200 total)
3. Four Air Con units for College student home ($3,400 total)
4. Truck for College student transport ($34,000)
Any additional funds raised through this effort will be used to cover shortfalls in meeting Jasper Kids’ 2020 and 2021 operating costs. Beyond this, we look to secure another home for the college students.
The short-term goal for Jasper Kids is to realize financial stability. After this, we will look outwards to expand into other regions of Thailand and neighboring countries. We have a very long way to go but hope for a bright future and many changed lives.
