After new pledge initiate Noah Keatin witnesses a stormy encounter between an African-American freshman Alaina Pratt and pledge master Tyler Blakely at the semester’s biggest party of the year, Noah and Alaina wake up the following morning to find their bodies switched with no explanation. As the two perfect strangers struggle to find the cause, the truth about each other and the events of that fateful night bubble to the surface.

Downbeat is an award winning production company, with its most recent film "Safe Haven" being selected for the 2018 Sundance Ignite Fellowships. Downbeat's first film "Sunday Morning" produced by Anngelica has received several awards and official selections, and is out on vimeo now. At Downbeat, we believe in creating genre defining content for this generation and the next. We aim to serve the people and the communities we cherish – to demand a new normal. Only question is….

MEET THE DIRECTOR / CO-WRITER: Anngelica-Marie Eshesimua

Anngelica-Marie Eshesimua currently studies the Business of Cinematic Arts with a minor in Comedy at the University of Southern California. Anngelica has honed her experience in entertainment with internships at Sonar Entertainment, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and The Bold and the Beautiful while running the production company she co-founded, Downbeat Entertainment LLC. Anngelica and the Downbeat team have recently wrapped post production on her directorial debut for “Mirror, Mirror”. Anngelica wrote the 5 episode digital series about  four girls of varying backgrounds, identities, and beliefs conflicting with each other over the course of the school’s election day in their high school girl's bathroom. Going forward, Anngelica aims to write and produce television content about the intricacies, humor, and connectivity that make up overlooked communities and relationships.

MEET THE PRODUCER: Sydney Coleman

Originally from Atlanta, Sydney Coleman is a junior in the USC School of Cinematic Arts where she focuses on television and diverse cinematic media. On campus, she’s the Co-President of Artemis, an intersectional creative community that produces media to empower diverse voices. Through Artemis, Sydney worked with Anngelica to produce the 5-episode web series, “Mirror Mirror.” With internship experience at Macro Ventures and HBO, Sydney hopes to be a development executive or showrunner one day.

MEET THE CAST 

ANDREW NEAVES - NOAH

A dynamic young actor, Andrew is known for his range and professionalism. His recent projects include Luke Konopasky's film Red Water and Noel Dombroski' Todd and the Trashcans. As a freshman in the USC BFA acting program, Andrew is currently starring in the USC Musical Theatre Rep's production of Cabaret. On his days off, you can always find Andrew sporting an Astros shirt and cheering on his home team.

Carene Rose - Alaina

Carene is a Los Angeles based storyteller. Short film credits include Epi (Meme), Life is Funny (Bougie Girl), and SMILE: A Musical (Dancer). She was most recently seen on stage in the cabaret Never Let You Go and the Los Angeles premiere of Comb Your Hair (or you'll look like a slave), which was a finalist for the 2017 Kennedy Center John Cauble Short Play Award. She has performed with the Urban Theater Movement, Force of Nature, Theater Jazzo, and Infinite Jest companies in Los Angeles. Regional: Macbeth (Northern Stage). Dartmouth College: for colored girls (Lady in Red), Chicago (Matron 'Mama' Morton), Don Juan Comes Back From the War (Second Part), and In The Next Room (or the vibrator play)(Elizabeth). She has appeared in music videos for recording artists Bill Baird, Written by Wolves, and broadway star Sam Harris. Training: BA in Theater, Dartmouth College; London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art Certificate. She believes that true art exists not only to touch us, but also to spark conversation that brings about change. She continues to explore her activism through her work for the stage and screen. carenerose.com

Ethan Haslam - Tyler

Ethan is thoroughly excited to be appearing in his second film with Downbeat! He previously starred in Sunday Morning directed by Matthew Allen, which is available to stream on Vimeo. Ethan received his BFA in Acting from the University of Southern California. He has worked in Los Angeles and across the country with companies such as the Williamstown Theatre Festival, American Conservatory Theatre, Shakespeare by the Sea, Montana Shakespeare Company, and Torrance Theatre Company. His film work includes Sunday Morning, Drink With Tommy, and Dubbed. You can check him out at ethanhaslam.com.
