Calling all heroes of the future to help launch the Fractal Museum, an online learning center and fractal art appreciation site with aims to create a physical traveling fractal museum.

The Fractal Museum will provide solutions for scientists and fractal geometers, art lovers, aspiring fractal artists, as well as historians; filling four critical needs in the world:

  • Fractal Geometers: A place to learn fractal geometry and how it can be applied to science, technology, prediction, and open our understanding of our planet, the stars above, and the cells within our bodies.
  • Art Lovers: A living and evolving gallery of new fractal art, as well as a place to learn the names of the many different types of fractals, and well beyond the well known Mandelbrot Set.
  • Fractal Artists: A central place to learn about the methods and applications used to create fractals, as well as a place to preserve current tutorials and methods for creating fractal art.
  • Art Historians: A place to learn about the early formation of fractal art, from when it nearly died twice with Gaston Julia, to the challenges it faced when Benoit Mandelbrot's fractal geometry was first rejected by the scientific community.

With your help, we will reach 501(c)(3) status as a non-profit organization, where we can approach larger companies and organizations for our goal of building a physical museum of fractal art.

The Great Blue Mandelbrot

All donors of $25 or more will receive a print of "The Great Blue Mandelbrot", with $25 donors receiving it in postcard form, while larger donors will receive bigger and bigger photographic prints.

Known also as "Brot Blu", this design was created specifically for The Fractal Museum by San Jaya Prime (Instagram). It was inspired by the stunning Great Blue Hole of Belize. It was inspired, also, by Alexis Monnerot-Dumaine's visionary "Julia Island" and "The Mandelmap" by fractalist Bill Tavis. With thanks to fractal artist Constance Leach (Instagram) for her insights into the crosshatch method.

$100 donors will receive a 12" x 8" (30cm x 20cm) photographic print of "The Great Blue Mandelbrot". Additionally, we're sending you 4K UHD fractal art wallpapers; 54 in total for the first download, with more coming before the end of the year. You will also appear on our main thank you page once the site has launched.

Tea for Two under the Stars

For our $1000 donors, we have prepared a very special experience in a joint effort with SESA PURE (Main Site). We will send you two Mandelbrot spiral tea and coffee mugs in the shining colors of pearls, along with four black and white celestial star-filled coasters.

The best, however, is in the tea itself. Austin, Texas celebrates its teas and coffees, and SESA PURE is where the true unique ones are crafted and brought to locations all around the city. I am proud to have worked with them on the design and ideas for both of these blends, with their tea masters really going all out on the taste and packaging. Each bag is a full 2 oz supply to share with others in multiple sittings.

The first blend is the Darjeeling First Flush, a high elevation grown tea leaf with delicate caffeine and flavor for tea connoisseurs. The second is the more zesty Lemongrass Ginger, for an exotic touch of spice and an underlying warmth that tastes incredible in every season.

Additionally, you'll also receive a large 24" x 16" (60cm x 40cm) photographic print of "The Great Blue Mandelbrot". Your name will appear in large on our thank you page, as well as in our official videos, and even in the physical fractal museum when it is built.

Look for a few more gifts when these arrive on your doorstep.

Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for supporting us in this first phase of our project, as we launch the first iteration of the site and reach 501(c)(3) status as a non-profit organization. Phase Two is building the information online and getting artists and scientists all around the world involved. Phase Three is the traveling Fractal Museum itself.

Here, today, you are playing a direct part in the very first steps, as true heroes of the future in both science and art. Thank YOU!

We also need to thank those individuals and organizations who have already helped us with information to prepare us for this journey. So much thanks to Charlie Martin, who worked with The Wind Energy Foundation and Business for a Healthy Climate, and who has provided us help information for more than a year. Thanks goes out to Nathan Otto, who lead and co-founded The Safe Conflict Project, as well as P5Y and "Give Peace a Deadline". Thanks, also, to Marie Case of Praemia Group (main site), who helps companies and organizations every day. So much gratitude for Mark Mandel (Instagram) and his push to move this all forward. The list goes on, and together we will take this to the next level and to the world itself.

More Information and Setting Goals

The first $600 is enough to register domain names for ten years and to cover the file hosting for the first year. However, that is only the start.

Stretch Goal 1: $2100

After hitting our first stretch goal, we'll be $1500 past the original goal and in a position to give the organization a physical address to begin our application process. It also sets the legal groundwork in place.

Stretch Goal 2: $3900

After hitting our second stretch goal, that will give us the $1800 needed for the $750 entity registration, the $600 501(c)(3) filing fee with the IRS. This covers smaller startup costs at the same time.

Stretch Goal 3: $5000

Hitting our third stretch goal gives us an additional $1000 to put towards a show and exposition, preferably during the East Austin Studio Tour (aka, "EAST") during mid-November. All proceeds from the event will go back into the organization and cover costs, as well as spread information about the art and science behind the organization.

Stretch Goal 4: $9000

The additional funds will help fuel the communication and marketing campaign to bring in major funding from larger companies and organizations, as well as support the construction and expansion of the main site.

In all the above calculations, a 5% fee was included to cover the payment processing fees of the platform, as well as a 10% fee to cover the cost of gifts. These will help ensure the success of the project and eliminate unknown variables or other surprises.

Thank you so much for joining us!

Update #2

A huge shout out in gratitude to Alaric for your donation and support, and in honor of a true bard on AND off the playa. That brings us over 10 percent towards our first stretch goal and nearly half of the way towards the initial "lights on goal". As the real campaigning starts in a week and a half, the amount of gratitude for this early support cannot be truly expressed. Thank YOU!

Update #1

A huge shout out in THANKS to the one and only "Mark Mandel", who is officially our first donor. Your print will be signed and numbered later this year in Austin, although you'll be receiving it much sooner than that. You are the best!

You can check out Mark's poetry and abstract paintings here on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/creatingwrite/

I've also updated the goal to show $2100 (the first stretch goal), and I'll update it each time we get nearer to the next stretch.
