I am an education activist working in Bulgaria. To keep my projects alive during Covid-19, I have not drawn a salary and taken out loans. I am raising money to pay back my loans and stabilize my projects in 2021!
I am raising money to allow me to continue my work as a Mexican-American education activist in Bulgaria. The economic hardships of Covid-19 have jeopardized my dreams of staying in Bulgaria and continuing my work for the betterment of children and teens.
The core values of my work are celebrating diversity, empowering youth through mentorship culture, and enabling disadvantage youth to reach their full potential by providing them with opportunities to grow and become active members of their communities through social responsibility projects. I run two international American camps, create civic engagement projects through my NGO, Vox Tua, and provide one-on-one mentorship. Ordinarily, my projects are financially sustainable, but this year has been extraordinary.
Despite the many challenges of the pandemic, we accomplished a lot. One of the huge successes of this year was that one of my mentees was accepted to Harvard! We also launched a national project for children in rural areas with the objective of supporting students in pursuing STEM careers, and fostering a mentorship culture. This project was funded by the US Embassy, and impacted more than 700 students from first to fourth grades. I am currently working with 19 high school students on civic engagement projects.
The money I raise here will replace my missing salary for this past 14 months, allowing me to live modestly and pay back the debts I have accumulated during Covid-19.
Please help me continue making a difference in the life of the youth in Bulgaria!
