Children's School of Education in Sambat Village, Cambodia

Children's School of Education in Sambat Village, Cambodia

From Zak Sauve

A small village school in rural Cambodia is in need of supplies. With over 100 students, there are not enough books & chairs for everyone. The school is a non-profit & all proceeds go directly towards new supplies.

More Info

The Children’s Home Of Education in Sambat is a non-profit organization that helps underprivileged kids by providing education and care. The school was established by local volunteers 4 years ago and attendance has grown faster than the school can keep up with. Their classes are free for all to attend and so local children come from all around with high hopes of attending English classes. However, supplies are running low and donations are rare and infrequent.

The school is composed of just a few small buildings and they have only the most basic of supplies. Books and other school supplies are dependent solely on donations. The school currently has a computer lab with no computers and a library that has no books. There are not enough seats for everyone who comes to class and basics such as adequate lighting in the rooms and pens and paper are in short supply.

The founder of the school often travels to the nearby city of Siem Reap where tourists and travelers can be found visiting Angkor Wat, to ask for donations and find volunteers to come teach a class or two at the school. This is his only method of recruiting volunteers and soliciting donations for the school. This is how I came to know about the school.

The aim of this campaign is to give the school the boost it needs to tackle the next year of classes with enough supplies for any student that wants to be able to participate to be able to do so. All proceeds will go directly toward the purchase of supplies such as dry erase boards, notebooks, flashcards, pens and pencils, light bulbs, dictionaries, and other books. Currently this online campaign is the only method of gathering outside donations for the school aside from the founder going to town and asking people directly. A little goes a long way in Cambodia.

Please don't hesitate to follow the school on Facebook so you can see real time pictures of the school and of your donation being put to good use.
