Update #7

Today we launch the Campaign to raise $10,000 US for the reconstruction of the new Primary School in Dansing, Nepal. It has now been almost 4 years since the devastating earthquake hit Nepal and destroyed the primary school. Thank you to Nepal Aide Magnoac and Makalu Adventure in Kathmandu for partnering with my family to make this Project a reality.

Update #3

A Message Aide Népal Magnoac

Aide Népal Magnoac is a French registered charity. The members and friends are predominately British ex-pats living in the Magnoac region of Hautes-Pyrenees, South West France.

The president of the Aide Népal is Roy Francis MM, a former UK Special Forces soldier and lifelong adventurer. Roy's first visit to Nepal was in 1976 as a member of the British Army Mt. Everest team. Charlie Mochan is the association treasurer. Charlie has lived in France for fifteen years and was a former British High Commissioner. Charlie's wife Llse is the secretary and has many years experience of overseas aid work.

In 2015 Nepal was struck by two massive earthquakes. Many thousands were killed and complete villages were destroyed. Aide Népal was set up to help fund the reconstruction of schools. In 2016, together with Mohan Lamsal, we funded our first school in Taruka, a subsistence farming community in the foothills of the Himalaya some 75 km to the west of Kathmandu. The school has 150 pupils, boys and girls, from 5 to 10 years old. Attached is a photo on the school's opening day.We are now helping to fund a similar project in the village of Dangsing.

Update #1

My name is Mohan Lamsal and I am the President of Makalu Adventure travel Group in Kathmandu. I am a personal friend of Irving who has climbed and trekked with my company for many years in Nepal.

On Saturday, 25 April 2015 at 11:56 local time, a 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal which was followed by more than 300 aftershocks greater than magnitude 4.0. Four aftershocks were greater than magnitude 6.0, including one measuring 6.8 which struck 17 days after the first big one with the epicentre near Mount Everest resulting in over 8,790 casualties and 22,300 injuries. It is estimated that the lives of eight million people, almost one-third of the population of Nepal, have been impacted by these earthquakes. The destruction was widespread covering residential and government buildings, heritage sites, schools and health posts, rural roads, bridges, water supply systems, agricultural land, trekking routes, hydropower plants and sports facilities. Taruka village was among the most affected places which was hit hard by the earthquake with almost all schools being completely destroyed. We decided to help rebuild this tiny village and concentrated our efforts primarily in building schools and health posts as first priorities.

In 2017 after a successful summit of Mera Peak, Irving did a homestay in Taruka as a volunteer teacher at the local school rebuilt after the earthquake. During that stay Irving visted other communities on the mountain and realized the need for building additional schools that had been destroyed. One of the villages we visited together was Dangsing (photo attached). You can see from the photos the very poor condition of the village school that once housed 300 school children. With your support we can build the community a new school.

Thankyou for your support.
Mohan Lamsal
