Road to Cherry Blossom Queen! I am honored to have been chosen as Iowa's representative in the 74th annual National Cherry Blossom festival held in Washington D.C. this spring.
Founded in 1948, the Cherry Blossom Princess Program is a cultural exchange program honoring the friendship fostered by the gift of the cherry blossom trees to the United States from Japan over a century ago. For more than seventy years, young women recognized in their communities for their leadership and accomplishments have been chosen by their state societies to represent their home state during the annual Cherry Blossom Festival. Two current U.S. Senators, the Honorable Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia and the Honorable Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, are both alumnae of the Program.
I am honored to have been chosen to represent Iowa. Funds raised will cover necessary program expenses such as Iowa pins, children's books, 'Princess fees', and transportation.
A bit about me:
I am an 8th generation Iowan, a student at the University of Iowa, and an intern for Senator Joni Ernst. I am finishing my junior year of college pursuing a B.A. in Political Science and B.S. in International Relations. In addition to a rigorous course load at Iowa, I also apply myself in many extracurriculars. I am heavily involved in my sorority where I was recently presented the Labor award for constantly working to improve the chapter, last semester I served on the executive board as the Panhellenic Affairs Vice President. I am proud to have been the host of Iowa City Update on Channel 4 during the fall semester and I miss my college community dearly! Currently, in addition to my internship I serve as the Associate Director of the Clothing Closet where we provide students with professional advice, mock interviews, and free business clothing. I am also the Vice President of Turning Point USA at Iowa!
I hope you will consider supporting me as I pursue my latest adventure!
