Sophia Williams (some may know her as Sophia DeLeon) needs our help to cover immediate major insurance copays/fees required to begin her treatment to battle a rare cervical cancer (stage 2 glassy cell adenocarcinoma).
In case you don't already know, Sophia was recently diagnosed with stage 2 glassy cell adenocarcinoma, a very aggressive cervical cancer. This cancer is very rare. It only accounts for 1-5% of all cervical cancer, as a result, research is scant considering there aren't very many subjects to test. But we do know Sophia needs to start treatment IMMEDIATELY because this cancer has already begun to spread.
Being a young, vibrant 27 year old, this was obviously shocking news to her and her family. Sophia is a very hard worker and provides for her family, especially her precious daughter, Audrie. Her insurance coverage through her employer is requiring hefty co-payments upfront and this has significantly delayed her treatment. Time is very important, which is why we (her family) are now asking for assistance. Sophia was blindsided by this diagnosis and has already been required to pay hundreds of dollars herself (and with the recent help of her mother and siblings) to cover her PET scan, an unexpected multi-day hospital stay and numerous doctors visits. Her next step is chemotherapy and radiation. Which comes with significant financial costs.
Sophia has worked full time for her entire adult life, has always been self sufficient, takes care of her family needs AND has a great job with valid insurance. However, she has been financially drained due to this cancer battle. And this is just the beginning.
It is a shame that even with insurance and an extremely time sensitive diagnosis, these astronomical fees are being demanded upfront BEFORE they can help her, considering it could mean deterioration of her health. But, it IS what's required.
This cancer will not wait for payment. This cancer will not have mercy because of insurance delays. This cancer needs to be eradicated as soon as possible to give Sophia a healthy future.
Anyone who knows Sophia knows her kind demeanor and generous heart, but now she is the one in need and it is her turn to be shown the kindness and generosity she pours into others. Any bit will help these costs be met. Let's SUPPORT SOPHIA!
