We want to weave a financial safety net for Laure's son, Evander. Donations made on behalf of Laure’s memory will be held and distributed to Evander for food and housing and other essentials.
As we mourn the loss of our dear friend Laure McElroy, we can find comfort by coming together. Though we share different lives and experiences, all of us were touched by this beautiful strong, witty, intelligent, and inspiring woman who left us too soon and unexpectedly. We want to weave a financial safety net for her son, Evander, who lived with Laure at the time of her death. Donations made on behalf of Laure’s memory will be distributed to Evander for food and housing and other essentials.
Laure’s friends and family are working to support Evander through this loss and to work towards his future.Laure and her friends and family at POOR magazine worked to establish community and promote interdependence. Even a small donation can contribute to those values that Laure believed in.
"Laure’s calm love literally held us together. Facing people and systems always ready to tear us down for being the baaadass ghetto skolaz we are and were. Writing this today is so hard for me between tears and pain, I’m so unsure of how to to just go on without her love." Lisa Tiny Grey-Garcia, poverty/indigenous skola of POOR Magazine and Homefulness co- leader/co-founder.
