Hello Beautiful Community!

We are reaching out for your support to help us raise $100,000 for our comrade, activist, and advocate CeCe McDonald

CeCe McDonald is an artist and activist committed to dismantling the prison industrial complex (PIC) and winning the liberation of all oppressed people. As a Black trans woman, and a survivor of white supremacist and transphobic violence and the PIC, these issues are core to CeCe’s personal and political life.

The experience of criminalization and incarceration led CeCe through a brutal and violent system. During her time in prison, CeCe’s evocative and thoughtful writing inspired an an international community of activists to support the #FreeCeCe and to advance the broader movements for trans liberation and prison abolition. Since her release in January 2014, she has dedicated her life to these movements through public education and organizing. A frequent speaker at colleges and universities, CeCe has also given interviews with VICE, Democracy Now!, Melissa Harris-Perry, and Huffington Post Live. She has worked with numerous organizations including Transgender Youth Support Network in Minneapolis, MN and the Gender Justice League in Seattle, WA.

While CeCe has been on the frontlines and has gained global respect for her advocacy, her financial situation remains unstable.

We know that systemic anti-Blackness, transphobia, Ableism and discrimination against formerly incarcerated people limit the opportunities and resources available for CeCe to make ends meet. Despite her years of community organizing and advocacy work, it is still difficult for her to gain access to financial stability.

Your support will enable CeCe to continue to lead the work we so desperately need on the ground right now, and show our gratitude for her resiliency and the gifts, wisdom, healing, and empowerment that she has offered to so many of us over the years.

We are asking folks to consider becoming a monthly sustainer, even $5 a month can make a huge difference when we add it all up. We know now more than ever, mutual aid, interdependence and wealth redistribution will be necessary for our shared survival.

We are grateful for the opportunity to show love and support for CeCe, and for our people who continue to show up and throw down for our shared survival.

With Love and Solidarity,
