Allison is elated to share that she was selected as the next Disciple of Christ representative to study at the World Council of Churches (WCC) Ecumenical Institute in Bossey, Switzerland (that’s near Geneva). The WCC is the most comprehensive body among the ecumenical movement aims to support partners in promoting justice and peace in our world as an expression of faith. (Ecumenical is a fancy church word that means to work with other churches and denominations). With 352 member churches, the WCC is comprised of more than 120 countries and territories, representing over 580 million Christians globally. This distinguished honor is available to one DOC candidate per year and Allison is honored to have been selected to represent our denomination for the 2022-2023 academic term.

From August 2022 to February 2023, Allison will spend a semester at the Ecumenical Institute with students from other World Council of Churches communions (that means denominational partners–sorta). Her peers will include people from Protestant, Orthodox, and independent churches from every corner of the world. Unique to studying at Bossey for this term includes the incredible opportunity to attend the 2022 General Assembly of the World Council of Churches in Karlsruhe, Germany. Additionally, Allison and her cohort will be part of the Global Ecumenical Theological Institute of the WCC before the assembly. It is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

At a time when conflict and disunity flood our news cycle and plague our relationships, Allison is eager to engage in our call to Christian unity on the global scale through relationships and conversations that seek understanding.
