I am raising money for my study abroad program to Italy in Summer 2019! Donations will go toward my program fees, books, and tuition. Anything helps :) Please share with friends and grazie to all who are able to support!
Thank you so much to everyone for supporting! I have now raised over $5,000. I appreciate you all and thank you for sending donations via mail/Venmo to avoid fees from the fundraising website.
Many thanks and much love.
Hello Friends and Family!!
I hope this letter finds you in good health. I am currently nearing the end of my Sophomore year at Northern Arizona University. I am working on my majors in biomedical science and psychology, along with minors in chemistry and Italian. I work on campus as a biology Supplemental Instructor during the week, and as a front desk agent at a hotel on the weekends. I am involved in many organizations on campus. I have had the pleasure of serving as public relations officer for Heshima Bioethics Society, along with being a member of NAU’s Student Health Advocacy Committee, American Medical Student Association, and Global Business Club. I am extremely dedicated to my studies and have earned a 4.0 GPA thus far, even earning the Golden Beaker Award for the top grade in organic chemistry. My goal is to attend medical school after completing my undergraduate degrees, possibly specializing in infectious disease.
This summer, I will be studying abroad in Italy for two months! I will be earning 8 credits toward my Italian minor while immersed in Italian culture. The program is named Language and Linguine, as I will be cooking in an Italian kitchen two nights a week with an adorable chef who speaks no English whatsoever. It is the longest faculty-led program at NAU, led by my Italian professor, Kevin Massoletti. On certain weekends we will go on excursions to other parts of Italy as a group, on my free weekends I plan to venture out on my own!
This program is a great option for me as a biomedical science major. It is extremely difficult for Biomed majors to go abroad during the semester due to the intense coursework. Most medical schools also require that all science courses are taken within the United States, further decreasing the likelihood of study abroad possibilities. This summer program ensures that I will not push back my graduation date, and I will be able to continue taking my science credits in the U.S. Another benefit of this program is that I am able to earn 8 credits for less money than at NAU and in only two months! Unfortunately, as it is a summer program my current scholarships do not support the cost of the program. Due to this, your financial support would be greatly appreciated. As a token of my gratitude, I shall share the wonderful recipes that I learn while working in the restaurant. I also plan on making a video at the end of my trip encompassing all the highlights from the trip, which I will send to all of you. Thank you for your incredible love and support. I hope to see you all soon!
