We are students in the IB Diploma program at Sussex Academy and plan to improve the current technology for the incoming students enrolling in any STEM classes to improve their experience and prepare them for college.
Being a graduate of Intro to Engineering, Principles of Engineering and Design Tech SL, I among every other student realized the computers were slow, frustrating and often unreliable. Many programs such as Inventor, a modeling software used in every engineering class, simply do not work the way they are intended. It is my grave concern the graduating students of engineering and design classes will not be as strong in basic 3D modeling skills as they should. This would be a huge setback if they wish to pursue any degree in engineering. That's why we created this fundraiser, we want to create a computer which will load any program students could possibly need and be reliable. Funds raised will be used to purchase each individual computer part and build it from the ground up. This ensures the computer will perform to the exact specifications it needs to. It is also my concern many students will not go into the STEM program just because the technology aspect is frustrating and discouraging. If this computer inspires one student to pursue a STEM education and a STEM career and helps them in the future, it would be a win in my book. Please consider donating to help the STEM future of America.
