Here at Life Reins, we love to offer children quality instruction in the fundamentals of natural horsemanship. Safety is our priority followed directly by having fun while supporting the development of positive learning skills thru direct and indirect exercises using natural horsemanship philosophies and techniques.

We know first hand that horsemanship lessons of any kind can be quite costly at best and can limit and/or prevent a child from being able to participate in something that they find genuine excitement to be involved in. At life Reins, we have a program that allows such children to take part thru partial as well as full scholarship programs designed to help remove financial barriers. We want every child who has a passion for horses to be able to participate!

We also work with local sister organizations to offer horsemanship lessons to at risk youth as well as to our local 4H members. We genuinely enjoy  sharing our passion with children who love horses and learning as much as we do!

Children who participate in  natural horsemanship training benefit in unique ways as they develop their skill level . Natural horsemanship requires that the handler learn how to access patience, understanding, fairness, and kindness,  The handler must learn how to read body language, to "listen" to what the horse communicates thru that body language in response to a request.  One must also learn to communicate their request clearly and take responsibility to communicate more clearly when confusion sets in for the horse.  Children who rely on anger or frustration to motivate them to communicate their own needs or to take action  learn how to become assertive without getting emotional. They learn how to  access their own personal power by staying connected to their own needs while also staying in touch with the needs of the horse . They learn to identify early on when action needs to be taken to resolve a conflict instead of waiting for an escalation of emotion before taking action.

Children who struggle to listen, learn how to regulate their own energy level and thinking while they try to  figure out how to help the horse  navigate obstacles both on the ground or in the saddle without creating unnecessary stress for the horse.. The benefits are truly endless and the training program tailors itself to each child to bring exposure to areas of struggle while further developing individual areas of talent and strength.

We make sure that children get the opportunity to put their horsemanship to the test as they are encouraged  to participate in local level horse shows and events . Group lessons and clinics offer chances to have fun while allowing for a social opportunity to connect with other kids who enjoy horses and are taking lessons.  We encourage the whole family to get involved thru campfire gatherings, volunteering and/or participating in lessons themselves.

We really want to continue to reach out and offer this grand experience for children in our area . Our arena desperately needs new footing to continue with our current children as well as to be able to offer our services to children who are on our waiting list. Good footing is an absolute must for the comfort and safety of our lesson horses as well as for the children who are involved in the lessons. We simply cannot afford it on our own right now. Please consider donating today to help us reach our goal. Thank you for your support!
