Support the Clintonville VFW by sponsoring one of the 250+ poppies used in the memorial yarnbomb installation along High Street near Glenmont Ave. Sponorship is a minimum of $2.
As Memorial Day approaches, red poppies begin to make their annual appearance. These colorful flowers honor and memorialize fallen soldiers, as well as serving as a fundraiser to support our nation's war veterans. The red poppy officially became the national emblem of remembrance in 1920. (Everything You Need to Know About the Symbolism Behind Memorial Day Poppies, Good Housekeeping, April 2022)
All materials and labor for this memorial installation were donated and all proceeds will benefit the Clintonville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1598, 4800 Indianola Ave.
I have such fond memories of purchasing a small crepe paper poppy outside our local grocery store with my mom every Memorial Day. She wore hers or hung it on the review mirror in the car, and I would twist mine around my finger to wear as a ring. I'm honored to continue using poppies to pay respect and remember those that served and hope you'll join me. Please donate.
