Hey Y'all. It is that time of the year again when I start to raise money so the kids in my school can have an amazing experience. We need your help so please give what you can. The kids do not pay for any of their meals or tours or hotel costs on the trip. All of that is from donations and the teachers are constantly bearing the weight of the costs. Help please!!!!

More Info

The school where I work is amazing. It is called the Greenburgh Academy and it is one of only a handful if schools located in New York State that exists SOLELY to educate students that have been deemed “uneducatable” by the public school system. We provide a wide array of services both to address academic limitations as well as emotional and mental health issues.  We are trying to offer things that schools like ours typically do not offer and so we select a group of students who have made substantial progress and bring them on an eye opening excursion abroad. We have successfully taken our kids to cultural excursions in countries not typically chosen by schools such as Latvia, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, South Africa and Panama.

Please note that our kids largely come from low income homes and many are either in foster care or homeless. For this reason, the staff donate most of the money needed but we need more to cover the costs since we cannot ask the students to pay much. We want to bring the most deserving students, and we do not exclude kids who cannot pay.  We choose the most basic places to sleep such as hostels and we try and limit our costs to make this trip a reality.
