Sophie attending the Kimberley Cultural Program

From Sophie Guy

I am raising money to attend the Kimberley Cultural Program in August 2019. It costs $5,000 to attend, which covers flights and other transportation costs, accommodation, food, and other program costs.

More Info

When I was in year 9 I went on a Future Makers Camp run by Outdoor School, as part of one of my classes. After we finished the camp all the participants had the opportunity to apply for one of three extension programs. I applied for the Kimberley Cultural Experience. Nine other students and myself where chosen from all over Victoria to go on this adventure. We will be spending time in the Jarlmadangah Burru Aboriginal Community and will even be spending a full week at the local school and being immersed in their culture. While having a lot of fun, we will be exploring and having deep discussions around the topics of citizenship, diversity and identity. By discussing these major topics in such an amazing classroom (the Australian outback) we hope to better remember this experience and our understanding about these world wide topics.
