My name is Scott Andreala, and I am 45 years old with Cerebral Palsy and I use a power wheelchair. I am doing this Go Fund Me Page to raise money to pay for home care just until my new agency kicks in. I just got a new home care agency about a month ago. My current home care agency Is called RES home care. On the first day they told me that the aide cannot lift me so I came up with a way that I can get into my wheelchair on my own. Then I cannot use the bowl anymore because the aide cannot lift me onto it. Then I thought that I could solve this problem by using a bedpan. Then I found out on Friday, December 29, 2023, from the aide that the agency told her I am not allowed to use a bedpan. On the same day that I was in a Zoom meeting when the aide came into my room during my meeting to say that she was leaving, and she did not give me a reason. I was informed on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, that the home care agency dropped my case because they do not like how I did things around my apartment such as how I use the bathroom or how I get in and out of my wheelchair. I came up with a new way to use the bathroom and to get into my wheelchair with a little help, since they cannot lift me, but the agency did not like it. Right now, I am paying someone out of pocket using my SSD check, but my SSD check can only go so far. I just found another new agency, but I am not sure when they can start because I am waiting on New York State to give the agency a start date. SILO always takes forever to get new services starting. Right now, I can only use the bathroom once a day if I am lucky and I am hoping that I do not get a UTI in the meantime. I just got a friend who is interested in being an aide for me and she lives around the block from me. As of now I am paying her out of pocket.
