This boy moved to a new barn, just since life is so crazy and this is the barn we both need right now. His stall is M A S S I V E and since I can't be there as often as I'd like, he's got a dear friend watching over him.
So I found an article that links atypical hyperplasia to Lymes disease, and so we got him tested and he has a weak positive result. So he's been taking medication for Lymes and hopefully that gets better. Since we moved him, he is no longer in the radius of my vet, so we have to find a new one :( which is the biggest bummer. We still are paying our debts off, got about $500 left to pay.
But hopefully things start getting better, I'm just so tired and my best is exhausting to maintain.
My horse has lymphoma- atypical hyperplasia.
I met Sky when he was approximately 9 years old at a therapeutic riding center I volunteered at. The owner gave him to me after I worked with Sky for a year because we just clicked. While in highschool I worked 3 jobs to keep him.
Sky is such a love and enjoys learning, he is such an intelligent kind soul. We do dressage together which is like ballet dancing and gymnastics.
Sky is a friend to all creatures and loves people too. He's just the best most wonderful boy.
On April 16 2022 we discovered a strange patch of skin on Sky's underbelly surrounded by fly bites. I notified my vet right away and pushed to get him seen as soon as possible.
I obsess over his health, he wears sunscreen and horsey clothes to keep him safe from uv rays. I buy his sunscreen from Australia and ship it every year because I only get him the best. He has an incredible vet and farrier team now, and the best barn.
A week later, the vet performed a skin punch to take that sample for biopsy. On 03 May 2022 Antech identified the samples as lymphoma.
On May 9th the internist my vet was consulting with recommended a second opinion at UCDavis. The sample was sent the following day. We received their results on May 16 2022 as presumed lymphoma but required further investigation which started with an immunohistochemistry. We pulled blood May 18 2022 and heard the results and from UCDavis on May 19 2022. His blood results were immaculate and UCDavis identified the sample as b-cell rich lymphoma. We wanted to investigate the cell population further as UCDavis noted concern, which my vet discussed with them. The results of the clonial initiated May 23 2022 lead to a final diagnosis of atypical hyperplasia on May 31 2022. This is great news!
Sky has bonded with my significant other who isn't as horse person at all, being so patient with him. I love seeing them together, which is often as I am physically injured and my significant other has been helping me with Sky.
Sky has been through so much with me, and we've grown so much together. He just turned 21 and is such a healthy horse. We all love him so much and I will do everything I can for him. But I need help. While it's easy to finance people things, vet bills are expected to be paid in full. With my health issues, rent increase, and upcoming life changes I need extra support. Thank you to all the lovely humans whom have helped out so far!
I got this strange alert that the stripe account (that works with Fundly) needed my account to be verified. When I checked, I saw all of these declined donations. Unsure of why, but desire it all, just wanted to share that I'm grateful you were willing to help Sky out. It means a lot!

Fundly doesn't allow editing of updates and I found an errors that were significant, including the wrong email address listed as donation. For that reason some update numbers are missing, please understand I am trying to be as correct and transparent as possible.
Thank you to all who have donated so far! A throwback of a ride a long time ago before my injury and his diagnosis

Having the vet pull blood as well to check his organ health and rule out PPID.
Please if you can donate, or share if you can't. Anything helps, both my cards are maxed out and I refuse to not get answers for him

Today Sky's vet is going to remove the staples from his biopsy and take a peek at the lesions on his neck.
Last night Sky got his results back from the second opinion. They are inconclusive, so more testing is needed. Attached is the report with personal details doctored out.

Update: Just found out there is a high shipping charge to get the samples to UCDavis of $150. We need that second opinion so if there's a way to help offset my credit card charges, I'd appreciate it.
I will post the invoice for everything once I get it. This conversation was over the phone.

Update on Sky: We are getting a second opinion from UCDavis, to be sure about treatment approach since it is imperative to know what we're actually up against. The presentation of affected skin is unusual so we just want to make sure.
So it begins. Please help if you can,!

My vet personally called me this afternoon to give me the results the biopsy. We hope to connect with specialists when they open Monday (today is Friday 5pm Eastern).
For now, here is a screenshot of his vet visit for the biopsy. I have paid this charge already but there will be more depending on next steps.
