My name is Andrew Simms. I am a 15 year old boy and I am currently attending Long Beach Polytechnic High School. The war in Ukraine is horrible and so many people are being killed and displaced. I have seen and heard in the news numerous times about people helping refugees find homes and donating toys to young children. But I have not seen many dedicated efforts to help teenage refugees.
With Sk8.4.Ukraine, my purpose is to welcome Ukrainian refugee teenagers to America and American culture by giving them the gift of a skateboard. Growing up in Long Beach, California, I learned that skating is a good way to make friends, get exercise, and be out in the sun. I have been skating for years and have enjoyed and cherished every moment I could skate with my friends. I want to show the refugee teenage boys and girls that while having to leave their homes in Ukraine is terrible, they are welcome in America.
My goal is to raise $3,300 and buy as many skateboards as possible.
I encourage you to tell all your friends and family about what I am trying to achieve and aid me in this great accomplishment.
I am also reaching out to skate companies including Vans, Toy Machine, and my local LB Skate to ask for discounted skateboards or their financial support.
Thank you for your support. I would love to hear from you.
Andrew Simms
All donations will be greatly appreciated and used for my skateboard initiative.
