We are raising the money to repair the graffiti on the Fred Meijer Trail Tunnel in St Johns Michigan. All funds raised will be matched by Modern Woodmen Financial.
The mural project under the tunnel was developed by the Clinton County Arts Council. A local artist with a varity of School groups to place individual murals on the south wall of the tunnel and the artist created a larger mural on the north wall. In the past few months the murals have been defaced by vandals.
The murals were protected with an anti-graffiti coating but the attempts at removal were not 100% successful. More needs to be done.
In attempt to prevent future vandialism, cameras are now pointed at the tunnel, thanks to Smith Landscaping and Jason Denovich. The city of St Johns is also looking to reuse downtown light poles to provide some solar lighting to the tunnel.
But to repair the current damage, we will be working with the artist and the cost of removing the rest of the paint and repairing the murals should be around$2000. We will receive matching funds from Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial. So each dollar you donate will get us 2 dollars to repair the murals. Thanks for any support you can provide.
