Update #20

One of the most difficult aspect of animal rescue is to constantly be in need of funds to be able to help these animals. Begging for donations, trying to find ways to get funds coming in is vital as so many lives depend on it.

During the year, we have been very busy with extremely sick dogs. We have lost a few, even if our vets tried everything to save them; their little bodies could not fight anymore. On the other hand, many made it, were treated, healed well and were adopted in great families.

We had cases from broken pelvises, to eye removal, to heartworms, as always. This year has been trying for us as we have had many owners surrendering their pets. These babies were not in good condition and some needed extensive veterinary care.

With a veterinary bill in the 5 digits, we absolutely need help to continue helping dogs in need of care and extensive treatment.

More Info

Without your help, we cannot continue taking the severely abused and senior dogs.

Sheila is a very old Poodle girl, abandoned by her family because she was old.  We are treating her for eye ulcers which are very painful.

She needs to see the ophthalmologist asap.

Julitta,  a little 3-year old applehead Chihuahua girl, needs to be treated for heartworm.  She was given up by a breeder who never kept her on heartworm preventative. She is only 3 pounds and 3 years old.

Please consider sending a donation for these babies's care.

Update #19

Two seniors came in last week. Their teeth are absolutely horrible and they both have a hard time to eat, even wet food.

POPCORN and BAINES, two senior Maltese boys, will be seeing the vet this week. These boys were severely neglected and deserve some relief from their aches and not being able to eat enough without pain.

They both show signs of malnurishment.

We will need to have complete blood panel done before attempting to put them under sedation to clean and pull teeth.

We currently have 5 dogs to treat for heartworm disease. We treated 32 so far this year.

Help us continue rescuing and treating the ones nobody wants and give them a second chance in life!

Update #16

Latest news at Sheree's Dog Rescue. We recently rescued a good number of dogs with extremely bad teeth and with heartworms. Nickel is one of them. Severe skin infection, bad heart due to Stage III heartworm disease, rotted teeth, bad knees. This Yorkie boy was severely neglected and needed extensive veterinary care. After being on strong antibiotics to clear the skin and mouth infection, he was neutered and had whatever teeth he has left, cleaned. We will wait until he recuperated from that surgery to start the heartworm treatment, which will have to be done carefully because of the bad heart.

Update #12

Another dog has been added to the list of heartworm positive dogs to treat. His name is Sven and he is a 2-year old Yorkshire Terrier boy. This picture was taken on his rescue day. He basically lived outside, on the streets of Lufkin, TX.

SVEN, HONEY BEAR, GENERAL, YUKIE, all need treatment for heartworms. We still have 10 dogs tested in the coming 2 weeks. Being that they all were strays for a period of time, we might have more dogs to treat.

Update #10

More sick dogs came in, most with horrible teeth and heartworm positive, needing treatment.

Donatella Versace was a priority case when we got her. She was getting poisoned by her bad teeth. Her previous owner surrendered her to the shelter and said she was doing this because she did not want to pay to have her teeth cleaned.

She has stitches in her mouth. Her gums were very infected.

Sakura, Jessica Fletcher, Wadsworth and General are also waiting to be treated for heartworms.
