More Info

While many of her peers were enjoying the college experience, Ms. Jones worked full time at a major Atlanta hotel property ultimately becoming Front Office Manager. She later transitioned into the legal field and accepted a job at a well-known Atlanta Intellectual Property firm.  In addition to a full course load and a full-time work schedule, Ms. Jones began preparing for law school.  In 1999, she went to the University of Georgia School of Law, taking a seat as one of very few minorities in her first-year class.

Ms. Jones has enjoyed a distinguished career over the past 17 years.  She is licensed to practice law in three different states, Georgia, Texas and South Carolina.  She started working in the Dekalb County DA’s office in her third year of law school,  Thereafter, she worked for two private firms doing insurance defense litigation.  Ms. Jones has served as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas and a Chatham County Special Victims Prosecutor.  She was the Managing Partner of an Atlanta-based insurance defense litigation firm and now runs her own private practice in the heart of downtown Savannah, lovingly referred to as the Hostess City of the South.

Shalena Has a 2020 Vision:

  • Increase efficiency in case management in ways that unburden judges, free up dockets and directs time, talent and resources towards cases that deserve them most.
  • Protect and preserve the rights of victim witnesses through education and support services throughout the criminal process.
  • Implement charging and sentencing review panels to ensure equitable and consistent outcomes.
  • Restructure child support enforcement.
  • Eliminate the cash bail system.
  • Roll back restitution and economic fines and penalties in juvenile court cases
