A cast of NYC youth in foster care wrote & acted in a film about their lives. Its World Premiere will take place on March 8th in California. We want to send them to it.
A group of foster care youth wrote and acted in a feature film, "Know How," based on their lives and experiences in the foster care system. They are part of The Possibility Project, a non-profit that empowers teenagers to create change. Their goal is to change the future of foster care by raising a youth voice about it and moving audiences to get involved.
"Know How" is a remarkable film, the cast is an inspiring group of young people, and what they have accomplished is amazing.
"Know How" was recently accepted into the 24th Annual Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose, California. On March 8th, "Know How" will have its World Premiere at Cinequest!
But San Jose is a long way from NYC... so we need your help.
We want to take the 10 members of the foster care cast to attend their film's World Premiere. Why, you ask? Because audiences will want to meet them. Because the press will want to talk to them. Because other youth will want to hear how they did it. Because they deserve the chance to be there!
Some have never been on a plane before; none of them have been to a film festival; and of course, none of them have had a chance to attend the World Premiere of a film they wrote and star in.
Your contribution can make that happen! You can give these youth a once-in-a-lifetime experience that they will never forget! And together, we can get started changing the future of foster care!
The funds raised will go toward buying plane tickets, hotel rooms ground transportation, and food.
The total cost of the trip is $10,000. But each dollar donated here up to $5,000 will be matched by sponsors. So if we make our goal, our youth can make the trip to attend their World Premiere!
All donations are 100% tax-deductible.
